Governor Cuomo’s office announced that the Wade Shows Midway at the 2016 Great New York State Fair will be the largest in Fair history as a result of the $50 million project to revitalize the Fairgrounds. The improved 15 acre Midway will offer at least 70 rides, many of them new to the Fair, and will feature wider and safer aisles as well as more covered seating areas. The Midway is a major contributor to the Great New York State Fair’s operating budget, last year the Midway generated a record $1,544,506 in revenues for the Fair. Officials expect a larger Midway with more rides to generate increased income.

The Oneonta Common Council has been called for a special meeting this afternoon. The meeting will begin at 5:00 PM in the Common Council Chambers at Oneonta City Hall, the purpose of the meeting to establish budget guidelines for the next fiscal year as required by a city charter, the meeting is open to the public.

The next Heroin Substance Abuse Meeting for the tri town area will be held tonight in the Sidney high school, Organizer Lorraine Keckeisen comments:

2nd & 3rd Floor Tenants in the Sidney Civic Center will find out shortly where they will be able to move their office shortly, following the closing of the sale of the Civic Center to a developer in October, Sidney Mayor Andy MAtviak explains:

Mayor Matviak said that the village sold the building for $364,000, and they will retain their current office space on the first floor, the 2nd & 3rd floors will be converted into senior apartments.

A Town of Greene resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested 60-year-old Gerald Mangan for Criminal Sexual Act, Criminal Contempt, Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing & Menacing following an investigation of a recent domestic dispute. He was arraigned in the Town of Greene Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

Tri-Town Regional Hospital will host a Blood Drive today as the American Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage and has issued an emergency request for all blood types. The blood drive will be held between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Tri-Town Regional Hospital Conference Room. Appointments may be made at redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RedCross, Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
