Chenango County Public Health reported their 2nd death from COVID 19 this week & their 9th overall. The County reports 29 active cases, 218 in quarantine, & 7 are hospitalized from the virus. The number of cases is up to 430, there have been 377 Recoveries.

The Broome County Health Department had 80 more positive cases since Monday & 4 more deaths, from COVID 19. The county has had 3696 total cases, they now report 104 deaths, 3259 recoveries & over 4200 are being monitored by the Health Department.

Hartwick College reported 1 new case of COVID-19 Wednesday, they report that there are 26 active cases on campus; the total number of cases detected on campus since August 1st is 57.

State Police arrested 27 year old Tyler Palmatier of Otego for the DWI Saturday. Troopers observed damage to a guide rail near County Route 48 and State Route 205 in the town of Oneonta, the trooper also observed Palmatier near a vehicle on County Route 8 that had damage consistent with striking a guiderail. Palmatier and another male attempted to flee, but Palmatier was ultimately taken into custody, he was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court on November 17th.

State Police arrested 32 year old Brittany Parsons of Deposit for DWI, after Troopers were dispatched to the report of a vehicle on its side and against a tree on Old Route 17 in the town of Sanford. Parsons was extricated from the vehicle; she was transported to Wilson Hospital & was issued appearance tickets to the town of Sanford court on December 8th.

New York’s new coronavirus testing requirement for travelers began today. Those traveling to New York must have proof of a negative test dated within 3 days of arriving in the state & they must quarantine for at least 3 days upon arrival and get another COVID-19 test on the 4th day, if that test is negative, the quarantine ends. If the test is positive, the mandatory quarantine continues and contact tracing efforts will be deployed. The full list of regulations is available at coronavirus.health.ny.us.

With most ballots counted, winners are being projected in local races of interest. In the 22nd Congressional District, Claudia Tenney is leading over democratic incumbent Anthony Brindisi, in the 19th District, Brindisi won that seat over Tenney 2 years ago. Antonio Delgado wins re-election over Republican Kyle Van De Water. In local State Senate races, in the 42 District Republican Mike Martucci defeats Democratic Incumbent Jen Metzger, in the 51st district, Republican Peter Oberacker defeats Jim Barber for Jim Seward’s seat, and Fred Akshar wins the 52nd district over Libertarian Thomas Quiter in a landslide. In the State Assembly, in the 122nd District, Joe Angelino has a comfortable lead over Rick Shaw with most of the votes counted, in the 121st District, Republican incumbent John Salka wins re-election over Dan Butterman.

The State Health Department announced 113,537 test results were reported with 1,943 positives tests on Monday. Patient Hospitalization increased by 76 to 1,227, with the Number of patients in an ICU bed dropping slightly to 268, the Number on ventilators was up slightly to 120, there were 14 Deaths, and the state death toll is 25,853.

Delaware County Public Health received 11 new cases of COVID 19 Tuesday; they report 41 active cases, 4 hospitalizations & 167 in quarantine. Delaware County is up to 193 cases with 143 recoveries & 9 deaths.

Otsego County Department of Health reported 3 more cases of COVID 19 Tuesday they have had 1025 total cases since March. There are 39 active cases, 0 hospitalized, 8 deaths, 753 probable and confirmed cases linked to SUNY Oneonta, and 56 confirmed cases in Hartwick College students

A 911 call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the Town of Harpersfield last week resulted in a Vermont man being charged with driving while intoxicated. On October 25th, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to investigate a suspicious vehicle on Peters Road, the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Antelmo Calvoperez of Vermont, was turned into a driveway and drove over the berm of the driveway causing his vehicle to become stuck over an embankment, he is accused of being intoxicated at the time of the accident. Calvoperez was charged with DWI and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle; he was released & was ordered to appear in the Town of Harpersfield Court on a later date.

The Next Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be coming from West Oneonta this year. The tree is located on State Route 23; another tree was pulled from Oneonta for New York City’s display in 2016.

State Police increased patrols to crack down of impaired driving and underage drinking over the Halloween weekend. A checkpoint on State Highway 7 in the town of Unadilla had approximately 110 vehicles pass through. Several arrests and tickets were issued, 1 for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, 1 for Criminal Possession of Marijuana, 1 for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3 for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, 1 Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, & 12 for a variety of Vehicle and Traffic violations.
