Chenango County Fire Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fatal fire Wednesday night on Granville Road in the Town of Sherburne. The fire was reported at about 6:30 last Wednesday Night, one woman died in that fire, her name has not yet been released, the investigation is continuing.

\nThe Broome County Sheriff’s Department announced that 17-year-old Ali Masland was reported missing from her residence on West Chenango Road in the Town of Chenango late Wednesday afternoon. Masland is described as 5\u20192, 100 pounds with brown hair and black eyes, she wears glasses and she has developmental disabilities and may be carrying a backpack. Anyone with information on Masland is asked to contact the Broome County Sheriff\u2019s Office at 778-1911.

\nThe League of Women Voters announced that they will host a debate between 121st Assembly District Incumbent Democrat Bill Magee & Republican challenger John Salka. The debate will be held next Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the Oneonta High School.

\nGovernor Cuomo signed legislation passed by the Legislature, to protect barbershops, beauty shops and salon service providers against individuals who steal their services. The new law will make it a class A misdemeanor, for those who fail to pay for services provided by a barbershop, salon, or beauty shop. Under previous law, an individual who knowingly failed to pay for those services was not subject to criminal prosecution, leaving certain small business owners at risk of financial loss with little recourse.
