Governor\nCuomo announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction\nprojects on New York State highways will be suspended during peak holiday\ntravel times over the next two weeks to ease travel for motorists.  All road construction work behind temporary\nlane closures will be suspended from 6:00 tomorrow until 6:00 AM Thursday,\nDecember 26, and again from 6:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, through 6:00\nThursday, January 2nd.  Some work may\ncontinue behind concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware\nAcademy Superintendent Jason Thomson announced his resignation last week, after\nserving in that position for 9 years. \nThomson will take a similar position in Kinderhook, the School board\nwill name an interim superintendent shortly & begin conducting a search for\na replacement early next year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sentencing\nfor former Cooperstown teacher Justin Hobbie has been rescheduled.   Hobbie was due to be sentenced in Federal\nCourt in Binghamton last week in after pleading guilty on 3 counts of sexual\nexploitation of a child, for asking 3 teenaged females to send him lewd\npictures through social media sites.  Hobbie\nwas arrested in 2018 & left his position as a physical education teacher.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developers\nwho were attempting to build & operate a “Dollar General” store\nin the town of Franklin have withdrawn their request.  Franklin residents opposed the plan earlier\nthis year when the requests were filed with the board to build a store there.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies arrested 66 year old John Sanders of Roxbury, Thursday on an arrest warrant for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Menacing, after an investigation of a complaint from the victim, alleging that Sanders grabbed the victim around the neck and applied pressure, and by displaying a dangerous instrument.\u00a0 Sanders was arraigned at the Town of Roxbury Court & was released in his own recognizance, he will re-appear at a later date. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMA\nannounced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to New York Counties\nfor recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line\nwinds and flooding on October 31st through November 1^{st<\/sup>.  2 local counties were included in the\ndisaster declaration, they are Chenango & Otsego counties, additional\ndesignations may be made following further damage assessments.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n}

Governor\nCuomo today unveiled legislation to prevent convicted sex offenders from using\nsocial media accounts, dating apps and video game chat functions to exploit\nchildren. The proposal builds on New York’s e-STOP law, which was passed in\n2008 and requires sex offenders to register certain online activities with the\nstate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
