The State Police “Buckle Up New York, Click It or Ticket” campaign will continue through June 1. Police will have additional patrols, conduct more traffic stops, and will maintain a zero tolerance policy for unbuckled drivers and passengers. Seat belts reduce the risk of injury or death in a crash by 20%, an average of 200 New Yorkers die each year due to not buckling up.
The General Clinton Canoe regatta gets underway today with activities on the river & at General Clinton Park, Sunday will be the big day with the 70 mile races from Cooperstown to Bainbridge, as well as activities in the park, according to Regatta Co-Chairman Mike Kaufman:

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors approved over $37 million in financial assistance for water infrastructure improvement projects across New York State, locally, the Village of Otego was awarded $3.9 million in grants for the installation of a redundant production well, replacement of asbestos-lined pipe and exposed water main, relocation of a well house treatment building to a higher elevation, replacement of a booster pump station, and the installation of a tank mixer.

The Bassett Cancer Institute is inviting all cancer survivors to its annual Survivors Day Luncheon, which will be held this year at Fenimore Farm & Country Village in Cooperstown from 1:30 pm. to 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 1st. The event will be catered by Brooks’ House of BBQ and is free to anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis, plus one guest. Registration will be ending today and is required.
