State Police BCI, the FBI and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested 3 men following separate investigations targeting individuals using social media to entice minors to engage in sexual acts. State Police arrested 70 year old Ronald Wenzinger of Binghamton, for 2nd degree Attempted Rape Wenzinger was a Reverend at the United Methodist Church in Harpursville, he was turned over to the Broome County Jail for arraignment. State Police arrested 39 year old John Tedmark of Binghamton and 38 year old Juan Bolanoszul of Endicott, each for 2nd degree Attempted Rape, they were turned over to the Broome County Jail for arraignment. Anyone with information about crimes against children is encouraged to contact the State Police or their local law enforcement agency.

58 year old Paul Geer of Hancock, was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in federal prison for 2 counts of coercing and enticing 2 children to travel across state lines to engage in unlawful sexual activity and 2 counts of transporting the children across state lines with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Geer was found guilty in March following a 2-week trial, he was a teacher at the Family Foundation School in Hancock from 1994 through 2001 & he imposed extreme disciplinary sanctions on students & that Geer used his position of authority to coerce 2 students to travel with him to Maine and Toronto, Canada, with the intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity. A 3-year term of supervised release will follow Geer’s release from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

With health insurance subsidies set to expire, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is urging her fellow members of Congress to include an extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits in any upcoming funding package, to help bring down the cost of premiums for low- and middle-income individuals and families in New York and across the country afford health care:

Senator Gillibrand said that without an extension, ACA enhanced tax credits will expire at the end of 2025, causing nearly 20 million Americans, including 1.6 million New Yorkers, to see a sudden increase in their health insurance costs of $1,360 on average.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at 117 Walnut St in Binghamton Tuesday, they seized cocaine, heroin, A digital scale, A loaded handgun which was stolen in Georgia, they arrested Joel Ramos, Luis Masso-Deleon and Tyeheem Crawley, all of Binghamton on drug & weapons charges, they were being processed by the Binghamton Police Department.

Governor Hochul announced that $200 million in funding is available through the State’s downtown revitalization and economic development programs; $100 million each for Round 9 of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and Round 4 of the NY Forward program. So Far, the 2 programs have awarded $1.2 billion in funding to 151 communities across every region of the state. The deadline to apply is November 7th, The similarities and differences between the DRI and NY Forward programs are described at ny.gov/programs.
