62 year old Robert Trago of Hancock, was sentenced in Delaware County Court to 5 years of in prison for his conviction of 2nd degree Assault. In September of 2024, State Police were dispatched to the Town of Hancock for shots fired with injuries, Trago shot at his neighbor in the arm while he was walking his dog in front of Trago’s residence, The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center by helicopter but was later released after the bleeding stopped. State Police Forensic Identification Unit Lab was able to match the bullet recovered from the victim’s arm with Trago’s firearm.

36 year old Russell Clement of Oneonta, appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday & was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for his conviction of Burglary. In July of 2024, a trustee of a house on Charlotte Creek Road in the Town of Davenport was notified by a neighbor of a possible break-in to the house, the trustee noticed specific items missing in the house and a cigarette, where no one had smoked in the house for over 20 years. Gloves were left behind at the scene, DNA results came back with a positive match to Russell Clement. Clement was arrested and admitted to being at that residence and taking items from that residence.

State Police are investigating the death of 59 year old Robin Bowman of Findlay, Ohio, who was found deceased on State Route 281 in Cortlandville on November 25th near railroad tracks. Police do not know why Bowman was in the area, they believe that she drove to the Cortland area. The exact cause of her death is still pending. The investigation is ongoing.

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand continues to press for Congress to vote to extend the subsidies that help millions of Americans afford health care:

On Thursday, Democrats will force a vote on a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits. Without an extension, ACA enhanced premium tax credits will expire at the end of 2025, causing 20 million Americans, to see a drastic increase in their health insurance costs.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced the donation of $2,500 worth of toys to Delaware Opportunities, made possible through the enthusiastic participation of agency members in this year’s Double Down December fundraiser. Corrections Officers, Road Patrol Deputies and staff were encouraged to participate by contributing funds through the No Shave October & November program, The toys will be distributed by Delaware Opportunities to families across the county this Christmas season.
