Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45 year old James Nash of Sidney on on two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Nash was arrested on January 26th in Walton after a traffic stop, Nash was a passenger in the vehicle, he was found to possess 2 pistols, he is a convicted felon and prohibited by law from possessing the pistols. Nash was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear in the Village of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 61 Year Old Donald Harris of Norwich after Deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute in the Town of Norwich. Following an investigation, Harris was accused of causing serious physical injury to the victim, he was taken into custody without incident, he was charged with 2nd degree Assault & was arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

State Police at Homer responded On November 25, 2025, to a report of a deceased woman in the town of Cortlandville. The woman was identified as 59 year old Robin Bowman of Findlay, Ohio, Police have now determined that she had been living in her vehicle in the Cortlandville area prior to being located, the autopsy revealed that Bowman’s cause of death was exposure to the elements, causing hypothermia.

60 year old Allen Hurt of Endwell, pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Broome County Court for possessing narcotics with intent to sell in Broome County Court. As part of the plea, Hurt will be sentenced as a 2nd time felony drug offender to 7 years in State prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision. On January 2, 2025, investigators executed a narcotics Search Warrant at Hurt’s residence, Police seized crack cocaine, cutting agents, packaging materials, a digital scale, and $1,159 in U.S. currency.

Voters in the 16 component districts of DCMO BOCES have approved a $44.4 million capital project. The project proposed repairs and upgrades to both the Harrold Campus in Sidney Center and the Pole Campus in Norwich, an addition to the Harrold Campus, and the purchase of the Masonville School site for student program expansion. DCMO BOCES Superintendent Michael Rullo told WCDO News about the timeline after the positive vote:

State Police arrested a father and son in Broome County following the execution of a search warrant by the Troop C Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team, Troop C Community Stabilization Unit, Vestal Police Department and the State Office of Cannabis Management. The search warrant is the result of a several months-long investigation at 448 Robin Lane in the Town of Vestal. Police seized 8 pounds of cannabis, 3 pounds of cannabis concentrate plus cash, Cell Phones and a PC Tablet, they arrested 22 year old Tyler Dickerson of Endicott on multiple counts of Criminal Possession of Cannabis, and 41 year old William Dickerson of Vestal on the Cannabis charges, plus Resisting Arrest & Obstructing Governmental Administration, Both men were processed and issued appearance tickets to appear at the Vestal Town Court on February 19.

26 year old Jahmeek BeyJones was sentenced Wednesday in Broome County Court to 7 Years in State Prison followed by 5 Years of Post-Release Supervision, following his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal possession of a Weapon with an Ammunition Feeding Device, multiple counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Tampering with Physical Evidence. On October 22, 2024, Officers located BeyJones in Binghamton, he was voluntarily provided officers with a key to his residence, where they located a handgun, a loaded high-capacity magazine, which was reported stolen in Pennsylvania, plus a digital scale & cocaine, at the Broome County Correctional Facility intake, Narcotic pills were found within his body.

Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted proposals this week to bring down costs of vehicle insurance rates and tackle fraudulent claims across New York State. The Governor is taking steps to battle fraud, limit damages paid out to bad actors and ensure that consumers, not insurance companies, are prioritized:

Governor Hochul said that similar changes were implemented in Florida, and over a one or two year period, the insurance rates plummeted, in some cases by 20% and rebate were given to some policy holders.
