19 year old Shyleek Favor of Queens, was sentenced on Friday, in Broome County Court to 9½ years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, in connection with his attempted murder conviction. On August 16, 2024, Favor was arrested following a routine traffic stop. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered 2 9mm fully loaded handguns as well as Oxycodone. Favor was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility on drug & weapons charges, he was released after posting $20,000 bail, 2 months later, Favor was arrested by the Binghamton Police Department and charged with Attempted Murder, for firing 5 rounds from an illegally possessed firearm, striking a victim, he was remanded to the Broome County Jail, While incarcerated he was arrested 2 more times for Promoting Prison Contraband & Conspiracy, which added prison time to his sentence.

2 State troopers were injured outside their patrol car on Thruway early Saturday Morning when they were struck while assisting a disabled motorist in Erie County, Early Saturday Morning. 1 trooper was transported to an area Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. This is the second incident of a trooper being struck on the Thruway in the past two weeks. State Police reminds drivers that New York’s Move Over Law requires motorists to slow down, be alert, and move over when safely possible for all vehicles stopped along the road. In 2025, more than 2,500 tickets were issued for Move Over Law violations along the Thruway.

State Police at Troop C responded to a school bus crash on its side in the town of Truxton this morning. A bus from the Homer Central School District had 11 elementary school aged students on the bus, the school bus driver and a school bus aide. Troopers & Local EMS responded, 2 seven year old & an 9 year old were taken to an area hospital, 2 with head injuries and 1 with a hand injury, several other reported minor injuries & were treated at the scene & released, other students were transferred to another bus and transported to the Homer School District.

Oneonta Officials announced that there was a water main break this morning at Carson Road, City crews are working to isolate the break. There will a temporary water outage until repairs are complete. Once a repair is completed, water users may experience a change in water color and/or pressure. Governor Hochul signed legislation that will allow medical aid in dying to be available to terminally ill New Yorkers with less than 6 months to live, it takes effect in August. Among the stipulations, A mandatory waiting period of 5 days between when a prescription is written and filled, An oral request by the patient for medical aid in dying must be recorded by video or audio, A mandatory mental health evaluation of the patient seeking medical aid in dying by a psychologist or psychiatrist, Requiring that the initial evaluation of a patient by a physician be in person, more information is available at governor.ny.gov.

State Police announced that a multi-agency saturation detail on February 5, resulted in three arrests. Arrested were 61 year old Kenneth Jordan of Endicott for counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Jordan was processed then transported to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. A traffic stop in the village of Johnson City resulted in the arrest of 50 year old Robert Stankevich of Binghamton for criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for allegedly possessing crystal meth, he was released on an appearance tickets for Johnson City Village Court on Wednesday. A traffic stop in the town of Union resulted in the arrest of 22 year old Donavin Stiglich of Whitney Point on drug charges for allegedly possessing crystal meth, he’ll appear in Union Town Court on February 17.

33 year old Stephen Pudiak of Binghamton was found guilty of 1st degree Rape as well as Sexual Abuse in Broome County Court last week. The Jury determined that Pudiak engaged in sexual contact and sexual intercourse with a female who was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless, in August 2017, he recorded himself engaging in sexual acts with the victim while she was asleep, the victim was unaware she was being recorded and did not know the sexual assault had occurred. Pudiak will be sentenced at a later date.
