Governor Kathy Hochul announced New York State will allocate an additional $150 million in financial assistance for municipalities outside New York City to assist in relieving immediate fiscal stress. This additional funding includes a $100 million increase in Temporary Municipal Assistance which will triple the amount of funding that all cities, towns and villages outside New York City receive from this aid stream. Southern Tier Municipalities will receive $8.2 million.

The Impact Project in Greene has teamed up with SFCU to help people make repairs to their homes, who can not afford to make those repairs in their family budgets. Jim Willard of the Impact Project told WCDO News that people can sign up for help, or maybe they can partner with the Project and be the help:

SFCU recently made $500,000 available in low interest loans for work by the Impact Project & kicked in an additional $50,000 donation, the website is theimpactprojectgreene.org.

Binghamton Police responded Tuesday for a report of a domestic dispute with shots fired, a gas line was cut and the suspect leaving the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police pursued the vehicle into Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State Police then continued the pursuit on Interstate 81 to Scranton. 53-year-old Diriki Birden was apprehended & was charged with 2 counts of Attempted Murder, Robbery, Criminal Use of a Firearm, multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Birden remains in the custody of the Pennsylvania State Police, where he faces additional charges in Pennsylvania. Binghamton Police recovered a firearm at the scene, No victims were struck by gunfire, no injuries were reported.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Alexander Gonzalez of King Ferry for Fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle accident with property damage and Drinking While Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content over .08% in the Town of Otselic last week. Gonzalez was ordered to appear in the Town of Otselic Court on a later date.
