Governor Cuomo & the State Health Department announced that 76,813 COVID 19 tests were performed Wednesday statewide, with 757 or.98% testing positive.  The state has had 441,911 positive test results since March, Hospitalizations were at 482, and there were 7 deaths, bringing the state wide total to 25,377.  New York State has administered over 9 million tests.

Chenango County Public Health announced that they are up to 240 total COVID 19 cases since March, they have 9 Active Cases with 1 hospitalization, 118 Active Quarantines, there has been 7 deaths, 209 recoveries and over 24,700 tests have been performed.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has announced that several high-risk high school sports will be moved from this fall to the spring of 2021. Football, volleyball and competitive cheerleading will now begin on March 1st. The spring sports season has a revised start date of April 19th, 2021 due to fall sports being moved to the spring. Low and moderate risk sports are still allowed to begin on September 21st. It is up to individual school districts whether or not they will participate this fall. Several local districts are still in the process of making this decision. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Monday Morning to a report of a 1 car roll-over accident on County Highway 16 & West Platner Brook Road in the town of Delhi.  The driver was 22 year old Sean Rogers of Levittown, who was accused of operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition at the time of the accident and lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve at an excessive speed.  Rogers was not injured, he was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely and speed not reasonable and prudent and he was released after being directed to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on a later date to answer the charges.

State DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today that the sale of big game hunting and trapping licenses has hit an all-time record in 2020, and were triple last year’s numbers.  Part of the success was due to the State’s newly launched automated system for selling fishing, hunting and trapping licenses, which went live in July, and was activated for big game license sales and Deer Management Permits on August 10.  More information is available at dec.ny.gov/outdoor/hunting.

Delaware County is reporting no new positive test results for COVID-19 and no additional recoveries today. The known active cases in the County as of today remains 6, all are recovering at home. To date there have been 114 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, with 69 people now under mandatory quarantine, 6 people have died and 102 have fully recovered.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 30 year old Stephen Maricle of Morris on August 29th, for Aggravated DWI.  Troopers had responded to a separate incident on Draper Road in Morris Maricle arrived intoxicated, he was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.  Maricle was arrested, his B.A.C was .18%, and he was processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Morris court and turned over to a sober third party.

Governor Cuomo announced that 576 new COVID 19 cases were discovered Tuesday out of more than 63,200 tests performed statewide, a rate of .91%, the 33rd straight day that the state has had 1% or less. 463 are hospitalized, 121 are in ICU beds & 59 were on ventilators, there were 3 deaths, bringing the state death toll to 25,370 over the last 6 months.

Chenango County Public Health announced that they are up to 239 positive cases of COVID 19. They have 9 active cases with 1 hospitalization, 107 people are in quarantine, there have been 7 deaths and 209 recoveries, and they have performed over 24,600 tests.

State Police arrested 48 year old Chrisanthon Santana of Bronx on September 2nd for Criminal Possession of marihuana, after a trooper monitoring traffic on I-88 in the town of Sidney observed a vehicle make several violations. A traffic stop was initiated on State Route 8, which resulted in the discovery of over 28 pounds of marihuana. Santana was virtually arraigned and released; he faces court action in the town of Sidney court on September 24th.

State Police arrested 35 year old Vincent Palmisano Jr. of Grand Gorge for Felony DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Unlawfully Fleeing from a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Resisting Arrest. A trooper on patrol in Grand Gorge observed Palmisano operating a motor vehicle, who the trooper knows from past experience to be unlicensed, Palmisano failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated and Palmisano drove into a yard, jumped out the vehicle and ran into the woods.

A foot pursuit ensued with the trooper and his K9 partner, Palmisano was bit by the K9 and taken into custody, he was virtually arraigned & was remanded without bail to the Delaware County Correction Facility.

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta. On Tuesday, 16 new cases were reported; all are linked to SUNY Oneonta. The County reports 823 total confirmed cases, 701 confirmed cases linked to SUNY Oneonta, 11 confirmed cases in Hartwick College students, there are no hospitalizations.

To date there have been 114 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, with 73 people now under mandatory quarantine, 6 people have died and 102 have fully recovered.

State Police arrested 34 year old Robert Youngblood of South New Berlin, for Over-driving, Torturing and Injuring Animals, Criminal Contempt, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Making a False Statement. On August 16, a trooper was dispatched to Dunhams Cross Road in the town of Butternuts, where they discovered that a 6-month old pig had been shot multiple times with a pellet gun. The pig was alive but in obvious distress. Youngblood was additionally charged with violating an order of protection while he was in the trooper’s presence. Youngblood was issued appearance tickets to the town of Butternuts court for September 24th & to the town of Unadilla court for September 21st.

Delaney practices internal medicine in Oneonta at Bassett Healthcare Network. Delaware County Sheriff’s Department arrested 6 people for a seasonal residence burglary in the Town of Andes On August 18th. Deputies responded to a seasonal home located on Shaver Hollow Road in the Town of Andes where the home owner reported discovering forced entry into his residence and the theft of a garden tractor. Deputies discovered the stolen tractor dismantled outside of a neighboring residence, they arrested 4 youths, ages 11 to 14 for 1 count each of burglary, criminal mischief & grand larceny, a 17 -year old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, their grandmother, 61 year-old Kathleen Shaffer of Andes was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of stolen property. All face court action at a later date.

The COVID-19 Report Card will be live at schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov. The Governor also announced that 4 states: Delaware, Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia have been added to the State’s COVID-19 travel advisory. Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands have been removed. The advisory requires individuals who have traveled to New York from areas with significant community spread to quarantine for 14 days.

The State Health Department reported 557 new COVID positive tests Monday, out of almost 58,000 tests administered statewide.  There were 445 people hospitalized, 114 in ICU Beds, & 52 on ventilators, 5 people died, bringing the state death toll to 25,367.

Chenango County Public Health updated their COVID19 numbers today, they report 235 total positive cases, 8 are active, 1 is hospitalized, 101 are quarantined, there have been 207 Recoveries & 24,445 tests have been conducted.

The Broome County Health Department reported that they have had 1265 positive COVD cases since March, they reported 1 more deaths since Friday, with a death toll of 80 1132 have recovered, and 353 are being monitored by the health department, they have conducted over 45,200 tests.

Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident in the Town of Walton Monday evening that resulted in the arrest of 41 year old Geoffrey MacDonald of Oneonta for Driving While Intoxicated.   Deputies located a car into a guiderail on Seeley Wood Road; they accuse MacDonald of crossing into the oncoming lane of travel and colliding with a guiderail on the opposite shoulder of the roadway.   MacDonald was charged with DWI & failure to keep right, he was released on tickets returnable in the Walton Town Court on a later date. Macdonald is also scheduled to appear at a Department of Motor Vehicles Refusal hearing on a later date for failure to submit to a chemical test.

A.M. NEWS TUESDAY 9-8-20

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta.  On Monday, 32 new cases were reported, 31 of the cases are linked to SUNY Oneonta, 1 case in not connected to the college outbreaks.  Currently, 139 students are isolating on campus and 43 students are in quarantine on campus awaiting test results. Current COVID numbers, there have been  807 total confirmed cases,  685 confirmed cases linked to SUNY Oneonta,  11 confirmed cases in Hartwick College students,  8 linked to the high school gathering, there are no hospitalizations currently.

Delaware County Public Health received 2 positive lab reports for COVID-19; SUNY Delhi has reported positive cases and is actively working with Delaware County Public Health and NYSDOH. Public Health is conducting contact investigations, quarantining and isolating individuals residing in Delaware County.  The County now reports 114 positive cases, with 102 recoveries, all 6 active cases are isolating at home, there have been 6 deaths, & 78 under Mandatory Quarantine

Governor Cuomo and SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced the launch of a SUNY system-wide COVID-19 case tracker dashboard. The centralized dashboard will provide real time, up-to-date information on COVID-19 cases, testing, and quarantine and isolation space availability across SUNY’s 64 colleges and universities to more efficiently monitor, respond to, and contain the virus.

Governor Cuomo announced that another 520 COVID cases were confirmed Sunday or .88% of all those tested, Bringing Statewide Total to 440,021; 413 are hospitalized, with 115 in ICU beds & 57 are on Ventilators, there were 2 deaths reported, bringing the state death toll to 25,361.

The Governor also announced the results of the State’s testing in the City of Oneonta over 5 days. A total of 1,965 tests were performed at the 3 sites, 91 positive cases were identified, for a positivity rate of 4.6%. Contact tracing efforts in partnership with local health departments are ongoing. 85 of the 91 positives cases were ages 18 to 24, or about 11.5% positive.

SUNY Delhi will begin conducting surveillance testing for COVID-19 on campus starting Tuesday, September 15th, as an early warning system to assist in the prevention of COVID-19.  SUNY Delhi will conduct pool testing of saliva samples from students. The test will identify the presence of COVID-19 in the samples with a 95+% confidence level.  Students will be selected for pool testing in designated groups and will be notified via email with detailed instructions. Participation is mandatory. Students who have previously had a confirmed case of COVID-19 will need to get medical documentation from their health care provider and must call Health Services at 746-4690 to coordinate an exemption for the surveillance testing.

State Police responded Friday to a 3-car crash on State Highway 23 near the intersection of Regan Way in the town of Davenport.  An investigation revealed that a Pontiac driven by 56 year old Kevin Johnson of Windham was stopped waiting to turn left into the Mirabito when he was rear ended by a Hyundai driven by 20 year old Shaun Jones of Davenport, which caused the Hyundai to then enter the westbound lane of traffic and into the path of an ambulance traveling west on State Highway 23.  The ambulance then struck a guiderail.   Jones was transported to Albany Med and was treated & released, Jones’s passenger, a 19-year-old female of Otego was transported to Bassett Medical Center.  The driver of the ambulance, 41 year old Gerald Brown of Milford was transported to Fox Hospital, his passenger; a 21-year-old male of Sherburne was also transported to Fox Hospital.  The crash remains under investigation.

SUNY Oneonta received test results from the earliest employee COVID-19 screenings, which were conducted on September 2nd, none of 208 employees tested were positive.  As of this morning, the number of students in isolation was 138, up from 117 yesterday evening. The number of students in quarantine was 43, down from 46 yesterday.   Hartwick College announced today that they have determined that a 5th student has tested positive for COVID-19, The Department of Health is responsible for contact tracing and will notify individuals with whom the student may have had contact.

State Police responded to a 2-person fatal crash in the town of German at Chenango County Road 2 near County Road 5 at about 2:10 Thursday Afternoon.  Police reported that a passerby saw marks in the roadway with trees and brush down, found a crashed vehicle & called 911.  A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed; both occupants were ejected, and were removed from the scene to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy.  The driver has been identified as 26 year old Matthew Monroe of Willet, the passenger was 26 year old Judah Harris of Whitney Point, the investigation is continuing.

State Police have arrested 28 year old James Haines of Richford after he fired a weapon in the direction of 2 troopers in the town of Richford, he then fled the area.  Haines has been charged with 1st degree attempted murder with more charges pending.  Troopers responded Thursday evening at around 6:30 to a residence on Light Road in search of Haines, who had been involved in a dispute in the village of Spencer.  Troopers found Haines and he fired a weapon in the direction of the troopers then fled.  No troopers were injured.  Haines turned himself into police early this morning.

Early Thursday morning at about 4:35 AM, State Police responded to the report of an overturned refuse trailer on State Route 17 in the town of Deposit.  Troopers located the truck blocking both westbound lanes.  Police said that the truck traveled off the roadway and into a ditch, tipped on its side and lost all of its contents.  The operator of the truck was 57 year old Danny Robertshaw of Elmira; he was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for an evaluation. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.  The State DOT and a DEC Spill Response team responded to the scene.

2 teens are still missing from the Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference, State Troopers were dispatched to the home in the town of Fenton on August 11th, are still missing.  Andrew Wellman Jr. is a 16-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes, he is 5’8” and weighs approximately 165 pounds, and he was last seen wearing a white windbreaker, black pants and a red/white/blue bandanna.  Wellman has ties to the Endicott area.  14 year old Giovanni Spagnola is a 14-year-old light skinned black male with brown hair and brown eyes, he is 5’6” and weighs approximately 145 pounds, he was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue or black pants and a pink/purple bandana.  Spagnola has ties to the Auburn and Syracuse area. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 775-1241.

Governor Cuomo announced that the rate of infection for COVID tests in New York State remains at or below 1% on Thursday, for the 4th consecutive week. There were 864 new positives on Thursday, giving the state a total of 437,971, there were 5 COVID deaths, and the Total number of Deaths is 25,348.  Patient Hospitalization was down to 428, there are 116 ICU patients and 61 were on Ventilators Thursday.

SUNY Oneonta reported that 118 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number to 507.  SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras directed SUNY Oneonta to send on-campus students home and stop all in-person classes and activities for the rest of the fall semester; all classes will be held virtually.

The Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta students.   336 individuals were tested at the rapid testing sites on Wednesday in Oneonta, 3.5% of those tested were positive. All of those were in college students.   The 3 sites are open today & Saturday in Oneonta for free rapid testing for COVID 19, following the outbreak at SUNY Oneonta.  The sites will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Oneonta Armory at 4 Academy Street, The Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street & the St. James Church at 305 Main Street.  Testing is by appointment only by calling 833-NYSTRNG.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced the arrest of Kristina Hand, former treasurer of the Morris Central School District in Otsego County, following a joint investigation by his office, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York State Police.  Hand allegedly stole $22,000 from the district to fund her personal shopping; she will face court action shortly.

State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras announced today that he has directed SUNY Oneonta to develop and implement a plan to send on-campus students home and cease all in-person classes and activities for the rest of the fall semester, all classes will be held virtually.   SUNY Oneonta officials announced this morning that they had another 100 positive cases of COVID 19 to report, bringing the campus total to 389 since August 24th.  The number of students in quarantine on campus remains at 54, the 100 students who tested positive, are in isolation on campus, they will be required to stay on campus until their quarantine is over.

Chenango County Public Health added 1 more positive COVID 19 case yesterday, they are up to 229 total cases, and 4 are active, with 2 hospitalized & 83 under quarantine. There have been 7 deaths, 205 recoveries, they have conducted 23,347 tests.

Governor Cuomo today announced casinos and video lottery terminal facilities will be allowed to reopen starting September 9 with a 25% occupancy limit. All venues will be subject to strict safety protocols, including of face coverings except when eating or drinking, social distancing and enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols. Casinos must also have enhanced air filtration, ventilation and purification standards in place, they must leave 6 feet of distance between operating machines. No table games will be allowed until casinos put in place physical barriers between players and the Gaming Commission approves those barriers. No beverage or food service will be allowed on the gaming floor. The State Gaming Commission will be deployed to monitor casinos and ensure strict enforcement of these measures.

Governor Cuomo announced that the state had an infection rate for COVID 19 under 1% for the 26th day in a row, with 708 cases or .8% out of over 88,000 tests, testing positive Tuesday. The total number of cases since March is at 436,218, there were 5 COVID-19 Deaths reported, the state death toll is at 25,336. The State Health Department reported 445 hospitalizations, 117 ICU patients and 61 patients on ventilators from the virus.

This morning SUNY Oneonta received test results for additional students screened on campus for COVID-19. 44 new cases were confirmed & College staff worked until late Tuesday night to contact affected students and move them to isolation on campus. The total number of confirmed cases within our campus community now stands at 289. A total of 125 students are in isolation and 54 are in quarantine on campus.

Resident Assistants at SUNY Oneonta have posted a series of demands on Instagram, calling for pay increases, increasing protections for any Resident Assistant that has to go into quarantine as a result of their regular required meeting with students in on campus dorms, the group is giving SUNY Oneonta President Barbara Jean Morris 5 days to meet their demands or they will reduce to “emergency only” status.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office held a K9 Monument dedication ceremony in remembrance of K9 “Ozzie” on Monday, who served in the department for 7 years before his passing earlier this year. Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond comments:

Chenango County Public Health released their latest COVID 19 numbers today. They have had 229 positive cases since March, with 4 cases active, 2 people are hospitalized, 78 people are in quarantine, they have had 7 deaths, 205 Recoveries & they have performed 23,189 tests.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department investigated a domestic dispute in the Town of Stamford Saturday, which resulted in the arrest of 66 Wayne Johnson of Stamford for Menacing, unlawful imprisonment, & endangering the welfare of a child. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that Johnson was intoxicated & had threatened to use a firearm to hurt a number of people in the residence, and he had also blocked all points of entry into the house. Johnson was virtually arraigned, & was issued appearance tickets for Stamford court at a later date, and order of protection was issued for the victims.

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta students, with 53 new cases were reported Tuesday, 50 of the cases were in SUNY Oneonta students, 2 cases in the community and 1 case in a Hartwick College student. SUNY Oneonta reportedly had 295 cases on Tuesday afternoon, the county now has 357 total confirmed cases, there are No hospitalizations.

Hartwick College announced that they will switch to all-remote instruction for the next 14 days through September 15th. Both Hartwick students who have tested positive are isolating at their homes outside of the City of Oneonta. Contact tracing is being conducted by the Department of Health & the College’s Perrella Health Center. Residential students were informed that they should plan to remain on campus. Dining services continue, and all students not in quarantine will continue to have access to the campus and its facilities. The College had a Reopening Plan that included preparation for a hybrid semester of limited in-person and remote learning, plus testing of every campus member, socially-distanced classrooms and campus offices, Students were required to bring a negative test with them before entry to campus, and students were tested again upon returning to campus. All employees were also tested last week; they will be tested every 2 weeks.

Delaware County Public Health received three positive lab reports for COVID-19. The County reports 110 total cases, 98 recoveries, 6 active cases isolated at home, 36 are quarantined, & there have been 6 deaths.

State Police made an arrest Friday after a driver drove the wrong way on I-88 for 7 miles near the city of Oneonta. Multiple motorists were forced off the roadway and had to take evasive action when a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-88, A Senior Investigator attempted to stop the vehicle and after close to seven miles was able to get the driver into a U-turn near exit 16. 72 year old Steven Wiedeman of Otego was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs; he was issued appearance tickets to the city of Oneonta court on September 28th.

Governor Cuomo announced that 2 more states have been added to the state’s Travel Advisory, which requires 14 mandatory quarantines from those visiting New York from those state. Governor Cuomo announced that just less than 77,000 COVID 19 tests were conducted Monday with 754, or 0.98%, were positive; it was the 25 straight days where the State’s infection rate was at or below 1%. The state has had 435,510 COVID cases since March, currently there are 432 hospitalizations, with 109 patients in an ICU, 54 are on ventilators, there were 3 COVID-19 Deaths in New York State Monday, and the state death toll is 25,331.

SUNY Oneonta officials announced today that they have 68 new case of COVID-19, bringing the total number of student cases up to 245. Governor Cuomo announced the launch of New York’s absentee ballot portal where voters can directly request an absentee ballot for the upcoming November 3rd election. The Governor acted by Executive Order to allow any voter concerned about risk or exposure to COVID during the ongoing pandemic to request an absentee ballot. The State Department of Health today announced that COVID 19 & Influenza testing will be required whenever a hospital patient of Nursing home resident has a known exposure to the symptoms of either disease. Delaware County Public Health reported 1 new case of COVID 19 Monday and no additional recoveries, the known active cases is at 5, all 5 are isolated & recovering at home. The county reports 107 total cases since March, 24 people are quarantined, 6 have died & 96 have recovered.

Broome County Health Department announced Tuesday that they are up to 1214 total COVID 19 cases, another death has been reported, bringing their total to 79, there have been 1082 recoveries, 454 are being monitored by the Department, and they have conducted over 42,600 tests.

The Otsego County Health Department reported that a bat found Friday in Cooperstown tested positive for rabies. 2 people were exposed to the bat & are receiving treatment, The Department also announced that their free rabies clinics in September are canceled but a full list of other free clinics & more information about rabies is available at the department website.

SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced that 5 students in Oneonta have been suspended for holding parties against the college policy & 3 campus organizations have also been suspended. The 5 students are alleged to have served as hosts of large off-campus parties & Chancellor Malatras said that at those gatherings there were several students who were symptomatic of COVID 19 & upon testing, there were 20 positive cases diagnosed. Chancellor Malatras announced that they have decided to Suspend In-Person Instruction at SUNY Oneonta for 2 Weeks. SUNY Oneonta Officials said that law enforcement officials on campus and in the City of Oneonta are working together to confront situations that compromise the students & city residents safety.

Governor Cuomo announced that he has is deploying a SWAT team to SUNY ONEONTA to contain their COVID-19 Cluster. The state team is sending 71 Contact Tracers and 8 Case Investigators to Oneonta & the State Will Open 3 Free Rapid Testing Sites in Oneonta with Results in 15 Minutes, the site Locations are being set up today & the sites will also be open to all city residents by appointment.

Hartwick College determined Sunday that 1 student has tested positive for COVID-19, the first confirmed case of COVID-19 on the Hartwick campus. The student is isolating at home. The Department of Health is responsible for contact tracing and will notify individuals with whom the student may have had contact. Hartwick College officials announced that no one is allowed on the College Private Property except enrolled students, delivery people & Hartwick Employees. Remote learners are not permitted to enter the campus.

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak at SUNY Oneonta, on Sunday, 38 lab confirmed cases were reported in SUNY students. Currently there is 94 lab confirmed cases and 34 suspect cases in SUNY Oneonta students and 6 cases in high school students. Anyone who suspects they may have been in contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus should quarantine at home & contact the local health department. Currently, Otsego County has 219 total confirmed cases, 103 are active, & no one is hospitalized

Bassett Hospital President & CEO Dr. Tommy Ibrahim has announced his first appointments to a new network leadership team, who will work in various capacities to propel the network toward full integration and position Bassett as a national player in health care delivery. Jeff Joyner has been appointed as Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, he has served as president of A.O. Fox Hospital since 2015, he will serve as the responsible executive for network hospital operations, system support services, and all integration efforts & he will still continue to have oversight of the A.O. Fox Hospital campuses with his new position, in addition to all other network hospitals.

Governor Cuomo and New York labor leaders today called on Congress to provide $59 billion to address catastrophic budget shortfalls that impact the jobs and livelihoods of thousands of workers in the state. The governor and labor leaders sent a letter to federal representatives enumerating the critical infrastructure projects that would be impacted without federal funding and the hospitals, schools and institutions that would be supported by it. The governor and labor leaders also called on Congress to repeal the tax change that eliminated the State and Local Tax Deduction, also known as “SALT”.

Congressman Anthony Brindisi pushed a plan today to double the federal funding for the Department of Justice, the Community Oriented Policing Services or “COPS” Program to recruit, hire, train and fund more community beat cops on the streets. The plan is a national effort. In 2020, the program awarded 596 grants to hire 2,731 police officers at police departments across the nation, according to Justice Department statistics. Brinidisi said that the City of Binghamton just received $250,000 of COPS funds in June.
