A Town of Sidney woman was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on an active Arrest Warrant for Criminal Sale Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession Controlled Substance. 34 year old Amber Chesebro was arraigned and is being held on $30,000 cash bail in the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

On Thursday morning Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested and charged a Walton area Sex Offender with a felony violation the New York State Sex Offender Registration Act. 46 year old Dennis Henderson voluntarily surrendered to the Sheriff’s Office and was charged with failing to submit an updated photograph to the Sex Offender Registry within 20 days of his registration anniversary. Henderson was arraigned in Town of Delhi Court and was released on recognizance pending further court action.

A Town of Greene resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Forgery and Conspiracy. 26 year old Muriel Davis was charged with 3rd degree Forgery 3rd and 6th degree Conspiracy, for allegedly depositing a counterfeit check to the NBT Bank, she & 1 other subject then withdrew the full amount of the counterfeit check deposited. Davis was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Greene Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 17-year-old Travis Bowee of Otsego for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Mischief, Petty Larceny and Harassment, following the investigation of a domestic dispute. Bowee is accused of grabbing & pushing a victim while she was holding onto a baby, grabbing a cell phone & shattering a glass door. Bowee was arraigned in Town of Otsego Court & was remanded to the Otsego Count jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 property bond.

State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos told reporters in Albany today that tremendous progress has been made with Governor Cuomo on an ethics reforms package. Skelos said that he expects ethics reform to be completed my march 31st, as part of the state budget package. Governor Cuomo has said that he would not sign the budget without the ethics reforms, following the arrest of former Speaker Sheldon Silver in February on corruption charges.

31-year-old Brendan Barrett appeared in Broome County Court today, he is accused of killing 18-month-old Camryn Davies of Harpursville on December 9th, 2013. The 3rd Murder trial of Cal Harris is entering its 8th week in Schoharie County Court, with more witnesses still scheduled to be called. Harris was convicted twice before in Tioga county court for the murder of his estranged wife Michelle around September 11th of 2001. The City of Oneonta Police Department is investigating a series of thefts from vehicles between Wednesday and the early this morning. The larcenies occurred on London Avenue, River Street, Luther Street, Burnside Avenue, Chestnut Street, Pearl Street, and Kearney Street. New York State’s private sector job count increased by 16,400, or 0.2% to over 7.75 million in February, a new all-time high. The statewide unemployment rate in New York was unchanged at 5.8% in February, according to preliminary figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor.

Agricultural leaders are hoping to see cuts restored to the state budget for agricultural programs; the governor’s original budget plan cut or eliminated funding for a variety of needed programs. Police in Broome County arrested 3 people on drug charges. Arrested were 28 year old Jessica Titus, 17 year old Maria Champion-Cruz & 35 year old Richard Madison on a variety of drug charges & conspiracy, for allegedly bring illegal drugs to Broome County from New York City by bus, with intent to sell in the Binghamton area. The arrests were made following an investigation by the Broome County Special Task Force & Binghamton Police, they confiscated 130 grams of unpackaged, pure heroin and about 52 grams of powder cocaine, all 3 are being held at the Broome County Jail without bail.

A “Protect Our Schools” demonstration will be held in Oneonta Tomorrow afternoon as part of a campaign by parents & teachers regarding state mandates on schools, excessive testing of students and the possible closing of schools or consolidating school districts. Bidding has been opened up for a casino in the Southern Tier by the state Gaming Commission. The commission chose only 3 casino bids instead of 4 in December, bypassing the Southern Tier entirely, in favor of a casino to be placed in Seneca County, about 85 mile north of the region. Governor Cuomo requested that the commission re-open the bidding process for a southern tier casino; Tioga Downs in Nichols would be considered a front-runner for that southern tier casino.

State Police arrested 54-year-old Scott Wade of Binghamton in connection with 2 bank robberies that occurred on November 14, 2012 and November 28, 2012 at the First Niagara Bank, in Conklin. The Governor and the legislative leaders are in the midst of ongoing budget discussions, which have intensified as the budget deadline approaches. Governor Cuomo repeated that ethics reform is a top priority and that he wouldn’t sign a budget without ethics reform legislation included. The Assembly leadership agreed with the Governor’s ethics package, the state senate has not yet agreed with the Governor’s plans for ethics reform. The push for the reforms followed yet another arrest of a top-level state lawmaker, when Sheldon Silver was arrested in February on federal corruption charges.

The Delaware County Republican Committee has endorsed Porter Kirkwood for Family Court Judge. Kirkwood currently serves as Delaware County Attorney. The Delaware County Family Court Judgeship is a new position that was created by the Governor and State Legislature in 2014 in an effort to relieve the backlog of cases in Family Courts around the State. 25 new Family Court Judgeships were added in New York. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Town of Plymouth Man for Criminal Mischief. After an investigation of a Domestic Dispute, 21 year old Daniel Brazee was found to have destroyed a family member’s property during the argument; he was arraigned in the Town of Plymouth Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $2500 cash bail.

Last Thursday evening, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a 911 call of a tractor trailer accident on State Highway 8 in South New Berlin. The South New Berlin Fire Department closed off State Highway 8 between the State Highway 23 & County Road 15. A tractor trailer operated by 50 year old Anthony Johnson of Mississippi overturned, with a load of about 40,000 pounds, Johnson was uninjured; the removal of the tractor trailer and cargo closed the highway for over 3 hours. No tickets have been issued and the accident is still under investigation.
