Former Mid State Correctional Facility Officer Francis Chandler, accepted a plea deal in Oneida County Court Thursday, in connection with the death of inmate Messiah Nantwi in March. Chandler was originally charged with manslaughter, he pleaded guilty to gang assault in exchange for a 4-year prison sentence, when sentenced in January.

State Police are warning New Yorkers of a scam in which individuals are impersonating members of the State Police, claiming you need to speak with a prosecutor regarding bail money for a loved one. The State Police will NEVER ask for money or talk about payments, they advise that if you receive a call of this nature, hang up immediately and contact your local State Police station to verify any information.
