Norwich Police Detectives successfully concluded an investigation Wednesday into the distribution of counterfeit U.S. currency and the illegal sale and possession of controlled substances, including fentanyl and methamphetamine. Police arrested 34 year old Zachary England of Norwich, for 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, 18 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, plus Tampering with Physical Evidence among other charges, England was found in possession of $1,800 in cash upon arrest, along with fentanyl and methamphetamine. England was arraigned and was held without bail due to prior felony convictions, the investigation remains ongoing.

Sidney Police Department responded to a domestic dispute Saturday at a residence on West Main Street, where a man was destroying property. Officers located 45 year old Arthur Cotten in the garage, he began dousing the floor and the garage with gasoline, Officers attempted to stop him, he was able to ignite the gas can with a lighter, Officers were able to physically restrain Cotten and pull him and themselves away from the fire, which was quickly extinguished. Cotten was charged with Aggravated family offense, Reckless endangerment, Attempted Arson, Criminal possession of a weapon, Attempted Assault, Criminal mischief, Resisting arrest, Menacing and Obstruction of governmental administration, Cotten was arraigned at the Delaware County Central Arraignment court where he was released on $1000 cash bail to appear back in court at a later date.

Aaron Mosley of Binghamton was sentenced in Broome County Court to the maximum allowable sentence following his conviction for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals. Mosley was sentenced to 2 years in the Broome County Correctional Facility and was ordered to pay $5,114.25 to the Broome County Humane Society. The investigation revealed that during the months of February through May 2024 Mosley had confined numerous dogs outside and in a garage of his residence, where they were found living in their own feces, malnourished, and without adequate access to food, water, or shelter.

30 year old Kenneth Dillmann of Hobart, pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Weapon and was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years of in prison. On January 12, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Buena Vista in Delhi for a suspicious person/drug complaint involving 2 vehicles, they conducted a search of a vehicle and located a loaded pistol in Dillmann’s backpack.

The Class of 2025 will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend in Cooperstown. Dick Allen, Dave Parker, CC Sabathia, Ichiro Suzuki and Billy Wagner will be enshrined, More than 50 Hall of Famers are expected to return to honor the newest members. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Sunday, at 1:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, The Induction Ceremony will be shown live on MLB Network, or at MLB.com.
