19-year-old Mario Sierra of East Meredith, was arrested on a Sealed Indictment Warrant issued by a Delaware County Grand Jury on 6 counts of 2nd degree Rape and 2 counts of Criminal Sexual Act. Last year, Oneonta Police reported that a 19-year-old male was suspected of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old victim in both the City of Oneonta, & in Delaware County, Sierra was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility, On Friday Sierra was arraigned in Delaware County Court on the new charges, he was remanded back to the custody of Delaware County Correctional Facility on $25,000 dollars cash bail, 50,000 dollar secured bond, pending further action by the Delaware County Court.

42-year-old Jason Delong of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania was arrested by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for 2 Counts of Aggravated DWI, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, 2 Counts of Reckless Endangerment, following an accident on State Route 369 in Fenton. DeLong failed a field sobriety test after crashing his car with a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old inside his vehicle, his car left the road, struck a guardrail and crossed two lanes of traffic before stopping, there were no child safety seats in the car either. The 2 children were not injured, and were turned over to a family member, Delong was processed and arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced nearly $21.6 million has been awarded to 103 farms across the state through the Dairy Modernization Grant Program to support New York’s dairy industry. Locally, 13 farms in the Southern Tier were awarded a total of nearly $2.6 million.

State Police are warning the public about an ongoing phone spoofing scam in which scammers impersonate members of law enforcement or government agencies in an attempt to solicit sensitive personal information. Callers falsely claiming to be law enforcement officials have demanded personal information such as Social Security numbers and have threatened punitive action against recipients who refuse to comply. These calls are fraudulent, If You Receive a Suspicious Call, Do not provide any personal information, Do not send money, Hang up immediately, you can Verify the call by contacting the agency directly using a trusted number.

33 year old Dorian Raysor of Binghamton was sentenced to 11 ½ years in prison to be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Tampering with Physical Evidence. The sentence is the result of an investigation conducted by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, when their officers observed Raysor adjusting an object in the front of his waistband, Raysor fled, During the pursuit, he discarded a .45 handgun and a holster.

Delaware County Public Health will host a Citizen Preparedness Training Event on Wednesday, June 11th at the New Hope Church in Walton at 6:00 PM, to help prepare Delaware County residents and visitors for any type of disaster.
