Norwich Police arrested 61 year old Donald Hults of Syracuse, who is a Level 3 Sex Offender, following an investigation into a reported sexual abuse of a child. Norwich Police investigated a complaint that Hults had arrived uninvited at a July 4th gathering in Norwich where he knew nobody in attendance, and inappropriately touched a 10-year-old child. Hults was located in Syracuse he was interviewed by Norwich Police detectives, and was taken into custody and he was charged with 2 counts of Sexual Abuse, plus Forcible Touching, & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Hults was arraigned in Norwich City Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail pending further court proceedings.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36 year old Brittney Hall of Harpursville, for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, following a traffic stop in the Town of Union. Hall faces court action on the charges at a later date.

State DEC announced more than $1.72 million in grants to 6 land trusts for 9 projects that help conserve local forests. The land trusts will purchase new conservation easements that will protect air and water quality, preserve wildlife habitat and biodiversity, support sustainable forest management, and increase outdoor recreation opportunities for the public. Locally, the Otsego Land Trust, will get $54,250 to purchase a conservation easement on the 41-acre Burr Forest property in the town of Westford, adjacent to Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park. The easement property is 90 percent forested, and includes wetlands and hemlock stands, along with large concentrations of native plants.

On November 24, Haley Hubbard and Rendezvous Lounge at 158 Main Street in Afton will donate a frozen turkey and fixings to 25 local families in Afton, They have chosen 25 local families that will received a Thanksgiving dinner, Hubbard told WCDO news about this effort to help others:

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that $97.4 million in new funding is available for active transportation-related projects and programs that support the advancement of healthy lifestyles across New York State. Local Governments, Transit Agencies, Public Land Agencies, Tribal Governments are eligible, the State Department of Transportation will be accepting applications for this funding opportunity through March 12th 2026.
