A 7 count indictment was unsealed against 18 year old Mason Kowatch of Margaretville. Kowatch is accused of 1st & 3rd degree rape, promoting a sexual performance by a child & unlawful surveillance in the indictment, he is accused of performing sexual acts with a minor, producing a video performance of sexual conduct by a child and having a surveillance set up to record another person where they had a reasonable right to privacy, for his own sexual gratification. He faces court action on the indictment at a later date.

35 year old Lawrence Painter of Sidney was sentenced to 1 year in the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Criminal Contempt. Painter are arrested by Sidney Police in November for going to a former girlfriends apartment and striking her in the face, Painter also violated an order of protection. Painter was also ordered to obey a 3 year Order of Protection for the victim in this case.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced that 48 year old Joseph Maine of Endicott, was found safe. Maine reportedly left his house Saturday evening & traveled to a friend’s residence in the City of Binghamton in the & remained there for several days without contacting his family. Law Enforcement was alerted to Maine’s Binghamton location in the early morning hours today, he was interviewed by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and voluntarily went to UHS Wilson Hospital for evaluation.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Keegan Allen of Worcester following a Jail Contraband Investigation. Deputies responded Sunday to the Delaware County Correctional Facility when Investigators discovered prescription strength muscle relaxers within the Facility during a search. Allen was arrested for Promoting Prison Contraband, he was arraigned and was remanded back to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on his original charge.

The State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance today announced the launch of a new online enrollment form for child support services on a recently redesigned website, childsupport.ny.gov. The new site allows for individuals to enroll for child support services online and providing existing users access to more information about their case. The site will provide parents with assistance in obtaining financial support and medical insurance coverage for their children by locating parents, establishing paternity, establishing and modifying support orders, and collecting and distributing child support payments, affecting about 536,000 children.

SUNY Oneonta has become the first SUNY School powered with locally-sourced energy, as they purchased Tier 1 Renewable Energy Certificates from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority voluntary sales program. The purchase will provide enough locally-sourced clean energy to power four 200-bed residence halls on campus fully.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating multiple instances of nails and screws being found in the streets around the residential area between En-Joie Golf Club and Roundtop Picnic Area. Investigators are actively pursuing leads and examining all available footage of the areas in question, and residents in the neighborhood are urged to continue monitoring their doorbell and security cameras for any evidence that could lead to the arrest of those responsible, video footage, sightings, or information to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (607) 778-1196.
