State Police arrested 28 year old Austin Darrow of New Milford, Pennsylvania, for Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle. On October 4th, a Trooper observed a sedan following a vehicle too close on I-81 and then fail to stop at a stop sign at 2 locations, when the Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the operator took off at a high rate of speed, into the state of Pennsylvania. With the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police, Troopers were able to locate Darrow, he turned himself in at the Binghamton Barracks and he was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket to the Kirkwood Town Court on November 5th.

Flu season is underway in New York State, and Chenango County Health Department officials are reminding residents to stay proactive and get their flu shot as soon as possible, Spokesperson Heather Miller explains:

Chenango County reported 250 confirmed flu cases last year, and with respiratory viruses like RSV and COVID-19 still circulating, taking preventive measures, such as vaccination, can make a significant difference in keeping our community healthy. The Sidney Memorial Library is participating along with other libraries around the state for the “Great Give Back,” Sidney Library Director Patrick McGowan explains:

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that nearly $80 million in state funding has been awarded to help 7 transit providers expand their use of zero-emission vehicles under the state’s Zero-Emission Transit Transition Program. Award recipients and their projects include Broome County Transit with $3.34 million for the funding for the purchase of 3 battery-electric buses.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on October 22nd for the Delaware Valley Medical Neighborhood in Walton at 2:00 PM. The project calls for an $80 million, 4-story facility featuring medical services like primary care, specialty care, physical therapy, and lab services to a single location. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
