Norwich Police arrested 27 year old Caleb Alexander of Columbus Ohio for Criminal Impersonation following an investigation into an adult who was using foul language and disrespecting staff at the Norwich YMCA. Alexander was using a number of incorrect identifications, detectives learned that Alexander later went to Norwich High School, where he allegedly used a false name, date of birth, and address in an attempt to enroll and gain access to the school. Detectives located Alexander a short time later, and he was taken into custody without incident. Alexander was wanted on a parole/probation warrant from Ohio for robbery and impersonating a police officer. Ohio authorities have confirmed that they intend to extradite Alexander to face those charges. Norwich Police stated that no children were harmed, and the suspect never made it beyond the high school office. Alexander is currently being held pending an extradition hearing in Chenango County Court.

A section of I-81 was closed this afternoon following a Crash and fuel spill southbound at Exit 4 at about 1:00 PM. A multi-vehicle crash has caused a fuel spill on Interstate 81 southbound, at the Exit 12 ramp to Binghamton/Port Dickinson, State Route 7.
