DogWatch Hidden Fences of Otego & Nam Knights have teamed up to provide kits for service dogs around the state, today they donated one to the Sidney Police Department for use by Officer Royce Terry & K9 Chase. Aileen Howard of Dogwatch told WCDO News about the kits:

Officer Terry said that people have been very supportive of the K9 program at the Sidney Police Department, and they are still accepting donations for the program:

K9 Chase is about 1 year old & is new to the Sidney Police Department and he is trained to locate drugs and other items as part of investigations.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded On Saturday night, January 25th, to a multi-vehicle accident on Sherwood Road in the Town of Delhi. Deputies interviewed the operator of each involved vehicle, 19-year-old Colin Stemmerman of Nanuet, was charged with Aggravated DWI- Blood Alcohol Content .18 or higher, Driving While Intoxicated, & Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Motor Vehicle Accident, Stemmerman was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Delhi Court and was released to appear at a later date.

The State Department of Transportation announced today that 64 times this winter a vehicle has crashed into a DOT snowplow. Investigations revealed that drivers are going too fast for conditions, are following too closely, or trying to pass the plow while it is clearing the road for everyone, which has led to Taxpayer dollars being wasted on damage that was preventable.

The Chenango County Historical Society and the Chenango County Historian’s Office are collaborating on this summer’s “Turtle Island” festival, part of the local commemorations of America250, a national initiative centered around the 250th anniversary of the United States. These 2 organizations are inviting people of Chenango County to a session today to discuss this event, Jessica Moquin of the Chenango Historical Society explains:

This community dialogue will take place at the James S. Flanagan Research Center, 43 Rexford Street in Norwich, to begin planning activities for the day-long festival for July 5.

Chobani had their new site plan changes approved by the Rome Planning Board on Tuesday night, as they continue with their expansion plans in New York State. Chobani was leasing over 168 acres on a golf course from Oneida County, but the acreage has been reduced to 93 acres in the new plan, Chobani plans to have the new facility running in 2027, with construction expected to be completed by the end of this year.
