The Chenango United Way has fallen short so far, of reaching their campaign fundraising goal this year. Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco comments:

The Chenango United Way helps with funding for 26 local programs and 14 local food pantries and soup kitchens in the County those who would like to contribute can call the Chenango United Way at 334-8815.

Otsego County residents are reminded that their holiday wrapping paper is recyclable and should not be thrown away as trash. Wrapping paper can be mixed with regular household recyclables & may be left for your local hauler to pick up, or may be delivered to the transfer stations in Cooperstown and Oneonta. There is no charge for delivering recyclables to the transfer sites and there is no limit to the volume delivered. Wrapping paper with aluminum coating and bows should not be included. More information on recycling in Otsego County is available at 547-4225 or otsegocounty.com/solidwaste.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch stated that the ownership at Traditions and Tioga Downs are working together to bring a Casino to the Southern Tier. Crouch, along with Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and State Senator Tom Libous are urging Governor Cuomo to reopen the bidding for a fourth Casino and for this Casino to be granted to the Southern Tier, the siting commission only picked 3 sites for new casinos, with the Southern Tier choice about 85 miles north of Binghamton in Seneca county. The plan for this bid was jointly presented at a press conference Tuesday at Traditions.
