The Mayor of the Village of Sherburne is requesting a voluntary evacuation of the south end of the village due to flash flooding. Streets include Chapel, South Main and adjoining streets, it includes Sherburne Senior Housing.  A shelter is being set up at Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School, with 2  buses being sent to Sherburne Senior Housing to provide transportation for residents. Those who need assistance should  call the Sherburne Fire Department at 674-2204.  also, Prentice Street in the city of Norwich is closed due to flooding, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, a minor mudslide has been reported at Prospect mountain near Mygatt street in Binghamton where construction has been continuing on the I-86 project.

Tomorrow will be the 2nd annual Jim’s Auto Repair’s Fundraiser to benefit the March of Dimes. The Denny Hamlin #11 NASCAR will be on display from 10 to 4. The event will be held on Marble Road in Guilford. More information is available at 895-6821 or 226-0475.

The son of Boxing Great Joe Frazier; Marvis Frazier will making appearances this weekend at 3 locations, for book signings of his biography “Meet Marvis Frazier”, co-written by Jamie Potter of Otego.  Frazier told WCDO News that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, didn’t make it to heavyweight championship status, and turned to a life as a minister:

There will be a lasagna dinner for the benefit of Christine Eldred at the Morris Fire Station tomorrow, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with take-outs available at 4:30 PM.  Fire destroyed Christine’s home in May and her friends have organized this fundraising dinner to assist her.  In addition to dinner, there will be a silent auction, raffle and musical entertainment.
