New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Thursday announced a settlement with 211 home improvement contractors for violating the state’s Home Improvement Contracts Law. The contractors have signed an agreement to end their unlawful conduct and will pay penalties and fines, after an investigation by the Attorney General revealed widespread violations of the law, including failure to provide written contracts or honor the most basic terms of consumers’ work agreements.  If consumers feel they have been victimized, they are urged to contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Helpline: 1-800-771-7755.

Today is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming September primary elections, and registration can be performed online.  DMV officials stated that more than 200,000 New Yorkers have used the state’s online “MyDMV” since it was brought online last year, Motorists who wish to vote in the September primaries can register at dmv.ny.gov.

The Delaware County Department of Public Works will be closing County Route 20 in the town of Masonville from Monday to Friday, August 19th to the 23rd to replace a —large culvert.  Work is expected to be complete by 3pm Friday the 23rd.

The Sidney Chamber of Commerce Village Wide Yard Sale Day is Saturday, August 24th. There will be space available in the VEP parking lot for vendors, & the Registration deadline to be listed on the map is today.

Officials with the Sidney memorial Public library will be closing at 2:00 PM Saturday.  The facility will be closing for the installation of new carpeting in the main area of the library.
