Tioga County Sheriff’s Department and Tioga County Bureau of Fire began a process last night that intended to make residents of Richford aware of a potential water hazard involving the Valley View Pond dam. While distributing flyers regarding the dam situation, an inadvertent message was sent to Richford area telephones telling people to evacuate erroneously. There was no need to evacuate; area Fire Department will siphon water from the Valley View Pond today to further reduce the water hazard at the dam.
