State Police are investigating a hunting fatality Saturday in the Town of Westford. 52-year-old Charles Bruce of Franklin Square, was shot in the chest and died at the scene Saturday morning, near Steve Braun Road. State police, along with the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office and the State DEC are investigating.

38-year-old Geneia Rood of Pitcher has a court hearing today, Rood is accused of causing the death of a 3-month-old girl she was babysitting. Rood was charged with 2nd degree manslaughter after an autopsy showed alcohol was in the child’s system, the child’s death was ruled a homicide. Rood was sent to the Chenango County jail on $50,000 bail

Human remains found in a wooded area in the town of Chenango have been identified as 54-year-old Paul Terwilliger, who was a sex abuse suspect who disappeared after posting bail. Hunters found Terwilliger’s decomposed remains Saturday morning; his body was identified by dental records. Terwilliger was charged last April with 1st degree sexual conduct against a child. He was jailed after his arrest but was later released on bail, he was reported missing in May, a suicide note was found during the course of the missing person investigation.

33-year-old Samantha Stone of Waverly was sentenced in Broome County Court Friday to 12 years to life in prison, for sexually abusing girls through a dance studio that she owned in Binghamton. Binghamton police arrested Stone in 2011, for 2 counts of 1st degree sexual abuse, a grand jury indicted Stone for 2 counts of predatory sexual assault against a child.

State Police & the Otsego County and State Fire Investigation Teams, are investigating a fatal structure fire Saturday morning at 40 Walnut Street in Richfield Springs. The deceased was identified as 59-year-old Mary Weingates. The fire was reported at approximately 7:00 AM Saturday with 4 Departments responding, the manner and cause of death are pending and the investigation is continuing.
