the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Shane Manwarren of Norwich for 2 counts of 2nd degree Harassment, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.   During the course of the investigation at the Norwich Motor Lodge, Manwarren shoved a police officer, resisted arrest, & damaged a patrol vehicle. During a foot chase he attempted to dispose of Heroin, prescription medication, and a hypodermic needle, all were recovered and he was found to be in possession of more Heroin.  Manwarren was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested 26 year old Jennifer Potter of Oneonta on an active Arrest Warrant for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana issued by the Town of Guilford Court.   Potter was arrested after she was questioned by Oneonta Police; she was taken into custody, was arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $2500 cash bail.  Potter is to appear in the Town of Guilford Court Tuesday.

The state DEC reminds New Yorkers that a statewide ban against burning brush takes effect this week, and lasts through mid-May.  All residential brush burning is prohibited during the state’s historically high-fire-risk period through May 14th. Officials stated that open burning is the largest single cause of wildfires in New York State.
