6 People have been arrested in connection with trafficking heroin into the region, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s department.  Officials said that the 2 year investigation first led to the December 7th arrests of 24 year old Daniel Parrotte of Mount Upton, for an equipment violation, his 2 passengers were 22 year old Eric Doherty of Unadilla, and 24 year old Azar Hughes of Oneonta, Officials seized 209 packets of heroin, and a small quantity of crack cocaine, all three were charged with 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 4th degree conspiracy, They were arraigned & were remanded to the Otsego County jail on $25,000 bail. The next arrest was December 17th when Oneonta police arrested 20 year old Anthony Kinloch of Queens for 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 2nd degree assault; He was arraigned and sent to the Otsego County jail on $20,000 bail. 24 year old Louis Medina of New York City was arrested for 3rd degree criminal possession of controlled substance, after arriving in Oneonta on a bus from New York City, officers confiscated 200 packets of heroin, he was arraigned and sent to Otsego County jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. On February 17th deputies arrested Anays Garcia of New York City at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, when she went to visit her boyfriend, Jose Rodriguez, who was serving a 40-year prison sentence for operating as a major trafficker in Otsego County, Garcia was charged with 2nd degree conspiracy and 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, she is being held at the Otsego County jail without bail.

State Police reported that a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the Town of Deposit.  79 year old Barbara Seymour was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by 58 year old James Gruscavage Saturday night in Deposit on State Highway 8.  Seymour was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City where she was pronounced dead.  Gruscavage was sent to Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond on a charge of 2nd degree Vehicular Manslaughter.

The New York State Division of the Budget, Assembly Ways and Means Committee, and Senate Finance Committee today jointly released the 2013-14 Consensus Economic and Revenue Forecast Report.  All sides agreed on revenue total through the 2013-14 State fiscal year of $200 million above the Executive Budget estimate. The agreement on the state revenue forecast paves the way for the state budget to be completed by the April 1st deadline.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District is holding a public forum on today in the High School Auditorium at 7:00PM to discuss the 2013-2014 school budget. Community members are invited to learn more about the budget development process and the decisions facing the school board of education.  School administrators and Board of Education members will be present to address questions and concerns.
