A.M. NEWS MONDAY 6-24-13

State lawmakers have approved of the plans for the 2nd straight year, to allow for casinos to be placed in 4 upstate locations.  Governor Cuomo must sign the bill, then, voters must approve of the plan on the November ballot.  Lawmakers wrapped up the 2013 session on Friday.

Motorists are advised that Prospect Mountain construction work will be performed between at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily today through this Friday.  Crews will be removing the State Route 17 westbound bridge over Mygatt Street; State Route 17 eastbound between the Airport Road and Front Street will be reduced to one lane for reconstructing pavement.  Crews will also perform bridgework on Interstate 81 southbound over Chenango Street & bridge construction for the bridges over the Chenango River. Flag personnel will be on-site to guide motorists.

State Assemblyman Pete Lopez will be meeting with regional colleagues from both houses and officials from SUNY Oneonta to discuss the facility’s master plan. The meeting will be held in Netzer 341, Conference Room, on the college’s campus.
