A.M. NEWS MONDAY 7-13-15

State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a motorcycle on Route 11 in the Town of Marathon. 42 year old Christopher Tanner of Marathon crossed the center of the roadway, striking a motorcycle being operated by 49 year-old Shanon Nasoni of Endicott. Nasoni was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where she was pronounced deceased. Tanner had a BAC of .21, he was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and Failure to Keep Right. Tanner was arraigned in the Town of Marathon Court and was remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

The trial of State Senator Tom Libous of Binghamton is scheduled to begin today. Libous was indicted last year for allegedly making a false statement to the FBI, when he was questioned about using his political influence to get his son Matthew a job at a Westchester County Law firm. Matthew Libous was found guilty last week on 3 counts of falsifying federal tax returns & he faces sentencing at a later date.
