State Police investigated a 2-car double fatal motor vehicle accident on County Route 35 in the Town of Oxford early Sunday morning. The investigation revealed that a 2000 Ford Focus driven by 15 year old Brandy Smith of Bainbridge, crossed over the centerline into a Dodge Caravan operated by 48-year-old David Clark of Oxford. Clark was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich where he succumbed to his injuries, Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 7 passengers from both vehicles were transported to local hospitals and are being treated for their injuries, the investigation is continuing.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team conducted a “no knock” search warrant on Stein Road in the Town of Greene. The search warrant followed an investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine at the residence. Glenn O’Connor has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was already in the Chenango County jail on a weapons charge following a shooting last week in McDonough. The investigation remains open with additional charges pending.

The Delaware county department of public works announced that county route 23 in the town of Sidney would be closed to through traffic today to replace a culvert. The closure will be between Poplar hill Road and Dunshee Road, between 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the detour will be river road to Crane Hill Road.

The town of Unadilla Highway Department announced that Lockwood Hill Road would be closed today & tomorrow, crews will be finishing up the paving project.
