4 people are running for 2 seats on the Sidney town board this year.  Pete Cordes is the only incumbent running, under the democratic party line, he told WCDO News what he thinks needs to be done:

Cordes will participate in the town board debate at the Smart Community Room at the Sidney Library starting at 6:00 this evening.  Town Supervisor candidates Gene Pigford & Bill Heath will also debate.

Governor Cuomo is reminding small business owners of the state’s annual MWBE forum today & tomorrow at the empire State Convention center in Albany, it’s the largest statewide event for minority & women owned businesses.  Attendees will learn about the state procurement process, attend informational sessions and connect with decision makers from the public & private sectors; more information is available at governor.ny.gov

The Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Free Collaboration dinner to include Bainbridge, Sidney and Unadilla Chamber members on Monday, October 14 at Main Street Grill and Bakery, Afton with dinner at 6:00 pm.  Reservations are being taken at 639-1274, the deadline to register is tomorrow.

The Chenango County Sheriffs Department arrested 44-year-old Mark Youngs of Plymouth on a charge of 2nd degree harassment.  Youngs was charged following a complaint in the Town of Plymouth, he had previously advised by Deputies to leave the victim alone following an earlier incident.  Youngs will appear in the Town of Plymouth Court at a later date.

Commerce Chenango, The Chenango Foundation, Inc. and the Advisory Committee of Leadership Chenango announced that Robert Wadsworth is the 2013 recipient of the Harry Tecklenburg Leadership Award.  The award will be presented at the Kick-off Dinner for the Leadership Chenango Class of 2014 tonight at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.  Wadsworth served as Chairman and CEO of Preferred Mutual Insurance Company in New Berlin, from 1997 until his retirement in 2008.
