The Bainbridge Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire at 107 North Main Street late yesterday afternoon. Firefighters discovered that the flames quickly spread to other portions of the house; firefighters from Sidney, Afton and Coventry were called to assist. The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

The Delaware county sheriffs department identified 53-year-old George Swan of Ridgewood New jersey as the motorist who died in a 1-car accident on route 206 near Downsville Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe that Swan drifted off the right side of the roadway, colliding with a trailer parked in an adjacent pull-off. Deputies are continuing their investigation into the accident.

The Norwich Fire Department was called to fire at 722 State Highway 320 for a trailer fire yesterday afternoon. Norwich firefighters received assistance from the north Norwich & new Berlin fire departments. State Highway 320 was shut down for 2 hours while crews worked to extinguish the fire. The investigation is continuing.

Oneonta city officials announced today that the public hearing for the 2013 city budget scheduled for 7:00 PM tonight at city hall would be conducted as part of a special meeting of the council, with a single agenda item on the budget. Following the public hearing, the budget may be approved as presented or amended and approved, or action may be deferred until the December 4th common council meeting.
