Governor Cuomo today appointed Daniel Horwitz to serve as the Chair of the Joint Commission on Public Ethics, known as “J-COPE”.   The current Chair, Westchester County DA Janet DiFiore, will resign in order to run for reelection in November.  JCOPE was created as part of Governor Cuomo’s ethics reform package passed in 2011 to address the inadequacies in the state’s ethics system and to restore public trust in government.

Motorists are advised that Interstate 81 northbound between exit 3 and exit 4 in Binghamton will be reduced to one lane between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. today.  Crews will be installing temporary barrier in preparation for a new lane configuration.

Commerce Chenango will present the Distinguished Business of the Year Award to Golden Artist Colors, the Commitment to Community award to Steven Palmatier, and the Young Professional award to Lisa Natoli tonight. The awards will be presented at Commerce Chenango’s 54th Annual Dinner, sponsored by NBT Bank and Frontier, at the Eaton Airport in Norwich.
