A.M. NEWS TUESDAY 7-29-14

State Police arrested 50-year-old Clayton Condon of Bovina Center for Confinement of a Companion Animal in a Vehicle during Extreme Temperatures.  The arrest resulted from a report of a dog located inside a tractor-trailer with no air conditioner or ventilation in Otego.   Troopers determined that the dog had been in the locked tractor for 2 hours with an outside temperature at 85 degrees.  Police gained entry & removed the dog, which was given water & required no medical attention.  The dog was turned over to a friend of the owner; Condon  will appear in Town of Otego Court on July 31st.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Board of Directors announced changes to the rules for election for recently retired players, reducing the length of stay on the ballot for players from a maximum of 15 to 10 years, while installing a new balloting and registration process for Baseball Writers’ Association of America voting members.  The changes are effective immediately and will be reflected in 2015 Hall of Fame voting.
