State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced a legislative proposal to help local governments improve their long-term budget planning. The bill would provide reimbursement municipalities for costs incurred for hiring financial advisors to assist in long term budget planning.   The proposal includes the creation of a Fiscal Stress Monitoring System for local governments. DiNapoli’s monitoring system has identified a total of 142 municipalities in fiscal stress. This includes 16 counties, 18 towns, five cities, 16 villages and 87 school districts.

The 7th Annual Dan Elwood Memorial 5k Run/1 Mile Walk to benefit Hospice will be held at the General Clinton Park, Bainbridge, at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 24th.   Pre-registration is requested & can be mailed to Dan Elwood Memorial 5k Run, care of Brenda Parsons, Village of Bainbridge, 33 West Main Street Bainbridge, 13733. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that his office has secured a settlement with Bed Bath & Beyond, to ensure that applicants for employment are not automatically disqualified based on criminal convictions and without the individualized consideration that is required by New York State law. Under the settlement, the company will ensure that the company complies with state laws; Bed Bath & Beyond operates 62 stores in New York State.
