The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Kyle Hackett of North Norwich for 1 Count each of 1st degree Rape, 1st degree Sexual Abuse & Endangering the Welfare of a child. Hackett is accused of forcibly engaging in sexual contact with an under age female victim.  Hackett was arraigned in the Town of Plymouth Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino reported raising $3.4 million over the past 6 months and will have $2.4 million on hand. Campaign-finance reports for New York candidates were released for the past six months. Governor Cuomo reported having $33 million in his war chest in January, the most of any governor in the country. Astorino said that he will not be able to raise what Cuomo has, but he expects to be competitive.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Cheryl Sayles of Otselic for Criminal Mischief & Reckless Endangerment.  Sayles was charged following an incident on May 29th at New York Central Mutual Insurance in Sherburne, where she is accused of firing a flare gun in the building & causing damage.  Sayles was issued an appearance ticket for Village of Sherburne Court on July 24th.
