On Friday July 3rd, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Hancock Police Department conducted a joint traffic safety check on State Highway 97 in the Village of Hancock that was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Police Traffic Services grant. 13 traffic tickets were issued, including 1 for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle & 2 tickets for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. On the same day Deputies participating in an Aggressive Driving Campaign issued 14 additional tickets for speeding and various other violations of vehicle & traffic law.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 41-year-old Michael Carey of Oneonta for 1 count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the town of Sidney,  Carey was found to have 11 active suspensions in effect. Carey was arraigned in the Town of Sidney Justice Court, posted bail and is scheduled to reappear on July 25th.

Delaware County Public health will provide a child car seat safety check during the Fair on the Square event at Delaware National Bank of Delhi on Friday July 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at 121 main street. 73% of child car seats are not used or installed correctly, more information if available at 832-5200.

The Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties will offer free health screenings to women 40 and older who are uninsured in Delhi today. The Bassett Cancer Institute’s mobile screening coach will be available, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Price Chopper Parking Lot in Delhi. Appointments are available by calling 1-888-345-0225.
