“SeptemBeard” is a program where teams of men at various organizations around the country are growing beards this month to promote Prostate Cancer awareness.  Jeff Newman and the Men at Chambers & O’Hara Car & Truck center on Route 7 in Sidney said that donations are being collected 2 ways:

Newman said that research shows that Prostate Cancer can affect 1 in 7 men in their lifetime; he said collections would still be accepted into early October.

44-year-old Edward Swift of Colliersville has been arrested by state police on charges of 3rd degree grand larceny and falsifying business records. He was arrested in connection with an incident reported August 28th in the town of Oneonta, and will face court action shortly.

The town of Unadilla Highway department announced that Sheep Pen road is closed today until 3:00 PM.  Crews are replacing a culvert; the project is expected to be completed by 3:00 this afternoon.

The next Commerce Chenango BUSINESS AFTER HOURS event will be today in Oxford.  The event will be at “6 On The Square” in Lafayette Square from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The American Civic Association will host a community conversation on immigration from 6:30 to 9 PM tonight at its facility at 131 Front Street in Binghamton. The event will discuss how immigration has affected the local community and the nation since the signing of the 1965 Immigration Bill. More information is available at 723-9419.
