State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Brandon Duran of New York City, for having an outstanding warrant issued by Oneonta Court, and driving with a suspended learner’s permit.  22-year-old Hakiym Colon of the Bronx was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, following a traffic stop for speeding on I-88 in Bainbridge.  Colon & Duran were issued tickets returnable to the Bainbridge Town Court; Duran was turned over to the City of Oneonta Police.

Binghamton fire investigators believe that an electronic cigarette is to blame for a fire last week at 19 Newton Avenue.  Investigators reported that a failure of the cigarette’s battery while it was charging sparked the fire, which led to heavy smoke and water damage. The fire was extinguished quickly, 1 person escaped without injury, the fire has been ruled accidental.

State troopers arrested 66-year-old Dennis Graves of Binghamton for Aggravated DWI with a BAC of .20%, 2 ½ times the legal limit.   The arrest resulted from a property damage accident in Fenton; Graves was processed and issued tickets returnable to the Town of Fenton Court on September 12th.

The school year begins this week for area students.  Motorists are reminded that buses will be on the road transporting children, and to obey all traffic laws.  Area Police remind motorists that it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus with flashing red warning lights.
