3 Norwich residents were arraigned in Norwich City Court and remanded to the county jail, for allegedly operating a meth lab in a city apartment. Charged were 34-year-old Luis Calixto, 29-year-old Hollianne Fitch and 32-year-old Dorothy Owens for criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, criminal nuisance, criminally using drug paraphernalia & criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police confiscated various chemicals used to make Methamphetamines as well as heroin from 28 Mitchell Street in Norwich earlier this week.

Chenango county sheriffs department arrested an Ocala, Florida resident on a arrest warrant as a fugitive from justice. 36-year-old Brian Copeland wanted for the felony offense of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, he was located by a deputy at a business in the Town of Norwich and was taken into custody without incident. Copeland was arraigned in the Chenango County Court & he signed a waiver of extradition, to be transported back to Florida. Copeland was remanded to the Chenango County Jail without bail pending extradition back to Florida.

US Postal officials announced that the construction project at the Post Office at 3619 State Route 79 in Harpursville begins today. Officials said that there may be limited interruptions as construction continues; there will be no changes to hours for the postal window service or the lobby. There is also no impact to delivery services made by the Post Office as a result of the work. The work is expected to approximately two weeks.
