Area Firefighters fought the blaze at 605 Glanville Hill-Hardscrabble Road for about 6 hours, the house was fully engulfed by the time fire fighters arrived after a passerby called it in. the cause of the fire has not yet been determined & the investigation is continuing.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Department announced that 17-year-old Ali Masland was found safe Thursday, the developmentally challenged teen had been reported missing from her residence in the Town of Chenango late Wednesday afternoon. No further details have been released.

Sidney Village Police arrested 19 year old Kayla Marie Hixon of Sidney Wednesday for criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal sale of marijuana & endangering the welfare of a minor. Governor Cuomo signed legislation passed by the Legislature, to protect barbershops, beauty shops and salon service providers against individuals who steal their services. The new law will make it a class A misdemeanor, for those who fail to pay for services provided by a barbershop, salon, or beauty shop. Under previous law, an individual who knowingly failed to pay for those services was not subject to criminal prosecution, leaving certain small business owners at risk of financial loss with little recourse.
