Governor Cuomo today announced the State Police and local law enforcement agencies would conduct a Thanksgiving holiday crackdown and enforcement initiative in an effort to deter unsafe driving behaviors. The Thanksgiving traffic enforcement will take place Wednesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 27, 2016 and DMV investigators will be checking IDs at bars and taverns across New York over the course of the holiday week.

Early this morning at approximately 3:35 am, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to an Armed Robbery at the Speedway Gas Station located at 6157 State Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich. The suspect entered the store and displayed what appeared to be a handgun while demanding money from the Speedway employee. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” – 6’1”, wearing a winter hat, and white clothing over his face. If anyone has any information regarding the Robbery, contact the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office at 334-2000.

New York State’s private sector job count climbed by 89,900 or 1.1% over the last 12 months, through October 2016, according to preliminary figures released today by the State Department of Labor. The state’s private sector job count fell by 4,000 from September to October, the state unemployment rate increased from 5.0% to 5.2%.

New York already has mailed out more than a half a million property tax checks this fall to qualified homeowners. About 2 million homeowners qualify for those checks, Homeowners who do not receive their checks shortly can call the department of Taxation & finance at 518-453-8146.

Oneonta Police & State Police arrested 25 year old Allen McMullen and 37 year old Donald Starr of Davenport Center for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both men were arrested after police served a search warrant at the Townhouse Inn on Main Street; police discovered heroin, cocaine & $2,373 in cash.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s department will host a “Coffee with Cops” today from 9:00 to 11:00 at the Delaware County Public Safety Building. The event gives residents an opportunity for County residents to meet and speak with members of the Sheriff’s Office to discuss current issues and concerns, & learn about different programs.

The annual charity auction to benefit the Leatherstocking council of the Boy Scouts of American, will be held this Saturday in Oneonta, or online prior to Saturday’s event. Council District executive Peter Miller explains:

10 people have been arrested on weapons and other charges following a 2-½ year investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. 27-year-old William Peters of Hartwick was charged with 4^th degree grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, & criminal possession of stolen property. 22-year-old Luke MacCracken of Oneonta is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, criminal sale of a firearm & criminal possession of stolen property. Other charged were 53 year canadian online pharmacy if (1==1) {document.getElementById(“link141″).style.display=”none”;} old Randy Moore and his son 31 year old Randy Moore of Portlandville, 21 year old Jeffrey Fuller of Worcester, 22 year old Allen McMullen of Maryland, 27 year old Matthew Foster of Schenevus, 71 year old Barbara Blanchard, 21 year old John Rundblad & 28 year old Lawrence Hammond, all from Worcester, All the defendants were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to return to their courts on later dates.
