Delaware County will have a Family Court Judge for the first time; the candidates are Democrat Gary Rosa & Republican Porter Kirkwood. In Chenango County, for District Attorney, incumbent Joseph McBride faces Zachary Wentworth. Several Town Races will be decided by voters Tuesday, in the Town of Sidney; Eric Wilson, Jeannette Hinckley, Loddie Marsh & incumbent Bill Heath are running for 2 seats on town board
In the Town of Franklin, for town Supervisor, incumbent Jeffery Taggart faces Epifanio Bevilacqua & 3 people are running for 2 seats on the town board: Dwight Bruno, Donald Hebbard and Donald Smith. In the Town of Harpersfield for Town Supervisor, incumbent Jim Eisel faces a challenge from Edward Pick Jr. Eisel is chairman of the Delaware County Board of Supervisors; a Pick Victory would mean a change at the top of Delaware County Government. In the race for Town of Guilford Supervisor, George Seneck faces Jeffrey MacCormack & for Town of Oxford Supervisor Frederick Lanfear faces Lawrence Wilcox.

Governor Cuomo announced the results of Child Passenger Safety Week seat check events, during which 88% of the 931 seats inspected were found to be improperly installed, 112 had been installed correctly. Child safety seat checks are coordinated by the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee in cooperation with state and local law enforcement and community safety partners year round, either by appointment or at events conducted throughout the year. The Kansas City Royals captured their second-ever World Series title and first in 30 seasons after a 5-game Series with the New York Mets. Artifacts from Royals will arrive in Cooperstown to take a permanent place at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, among the Artifacts, a Jersey worn by Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer, a Glove used by Royals catcher and World Series Most Valuable Player Salvador Perez, Spikes worn by Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain, a cap worn by Royals closer Wade Davis, & a bat each from Mike Moustakas, & Alcides Escobar. additional artifacts from the 2015 Postseason will be featured in the Autumn Glory exhibit, which will be on exhibit through the 2016 Postseason and is scheduled to open in later this month.

the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18 year old Austin Reynolds, of Sherburne, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree and Unlawful Possession of Alcohol; Person Under 21 years of age, after participating in a Stop DWI check point in the Town of Delhi. Reynolds was released with appearance tickets where he will appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded this weekend to a Trespass in progress at the Bagels and Cream located on Elm St in the Village of Delhi. Upon arrival, Deputies found a male subject sleeping on the floor in the dining area. Deputies arrested Travon Gaddis age 18 of New Rochelle, New York for Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree. Gaddis is to reappear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later time to answer the said charges.

The Trial of former State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver begins today in a Manhattan federal courtroom. Silver is accused of taking $4 million in bribes and kickbacks disguised as legal fees from 2 separate law firms, while serving as Assembly Speaker. . Questioning of potential jurors is scheduled to begin on Monday. The Trial of Former State Senate Leader Dean Skelos will start later this month.

The city of Oneonta announced that the final paving of Asphalt on 6th Street is scheduled for today. 6th Street will be blocked off after the morning drop off period and should be re-opened in time for afternoon pick ups, any delays or changes will be communicated to the school offices.

New York State’s private sector job count fell slightly by 4,700, or 0.1%. Locally, Chenango County’s unemployment rate is 5.4%, Broome 6.0%, Delaware 6.0% and Otsego County 5.0% unemployment.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 30-year-old Nicholas Ildefonso of Walton for aggravated unlicensed operation, improper licenses plates, uninspected motor vehicle, inadequate headlights, unregistered motor vehicle and no license plate lamps. Ildefonso was arraigned in the Town of Walton Court, where he posted bail in the amount of $950 and was released pending future court action.

Severe winter weather in the Buffalo area has seriously impacted the supply of blood, according to the American Red Cross. About 30 blood drives in that area were cancelled due to the extreme winter conditions. The Red Cross said the cancellations have resulted in a shortfall of nearly 840 units of blood and platelet donations over the past several days. The organization is now asking local residents who are eligible to donate to make an appointment. Appointments can be made with the Blood Donor App, at redcrossblood.org or at 1-800-RED CROSS.

Ganesh Ramsaran was arraigned on bribery charges in Chenango County Court Thursday, according to the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office. Ramsaran was indicted on a bribery charge for allegedly trying to bribe a county corrections officer into letting him escape the county jail in exchange for $100,000. Ramsaran faces court action on the latest charge on December 5th; he faces sentencing on a 2nd degree murder charge in county court on December 1st.

The national baseball Hall Of fame & Museum in Cooperstown announced that beginning Monday, they will document the San Francisco Giants’ most recent World Series title through a their annual tribute to the World Series Champions. The Museum acquired several artifacts from the champion Giants as well as from Kansas City Royals, including items used in the series by the Giants Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval, Hunter Pence & manager Bruce Bochy, as well as items from the American League Champion Royals from Yordano Ventura, Brandon Finnegan, & Royals manager Ned Yost.

New York lawmakers will have to figure out how to spend a $5 billion surplus in the coming state budget. The surplus comes from settlements with banks and insurance companies, and lawmakers are already being lobbied on where to spend the extra funds.   Governor Cuomo said some of the money should support economic development and a plan to expand broadband access, he will submit his executive budget proposal to lawmakers in January.

The inspections will be done by helicopter, enabling company officials to spot & correct vegetation & encroachment issues that could hinder repair crews. The 2nd round of New York State rebate checks have been delivered in recent days. The checks will provide rebates to homeowners on school property taxes if their local district stayed under the state tax cap, which limited the growth in taxes to less than 2% this year. In 2012, The State tax department sent about 1 million checks each worth $350 for people with a child under 17, who met the income eligibility.
