The 2 matters are under control according to State Police, the schools involved were the Chautauqua Lake School District and the Randolph Academy in Cattaraugus County. Both students are in police custody.

The Northeast Classic Car Museum was recognized with the Antique Automobile Club of America Plaque award for outstanding achievement in preserving the history of the automobile. The award was issued last Saturday at the 82nd Annual Awards banquet of the AACA, in Philadelphia. The Northeast Classic Car Museum is the largest in the Northeast with over 170 cars and over 25 motorcycles on display.

Governor Cuomo today announced 30-day amendments to the Executive Budget, including legislation to protect New York taxpayers from federal tax increases. Amendments include legislation to create a new optional Employer Compensation Expense Tax system, allowing participating employers to shield their employees from federal tax hikes. Budget amendments include provisions to decouple the state tax code from the federal tax code so that State taxpayers do not see more than $1.5 billion in state taxes because of federal tax increases.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40-year-old Eric Bowen of Endicott on charges of speeding, operating with a loud exhaust, unlawful possession of marijuana, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, following a traffic stop in the Town of Hancock. Bowen is accused of possessing a quantity of Methamphetamine in the vehicle. Bowen was later released on an appearance ticket returnable to Hancock Town Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 33-year-old Quintin Kemp of West Winfield for 2nd degree Assault & Criminal Mischief, after troopers responded to a dispute in which Kemp allegedly threw a cell phone at a woman, which struck her in the face, and caused a laceration & damaging to a television worth more than $250. The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released. Kemp was arraigned and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $2500 cash bail or $5000 property bond, pending court action in February 21st.

Governor Cuomo called for continued vigilance to prevent the spread of influenza and again urged all New Yorkers to get vaccinated. Last week, 16,804 laboratory confirmed influenza cases were reported to the New York State Department of Health; again the highest weekly number since reporting began in 2004. The number of weekly hospitalizations decreased for the first time since influenza was declared prevalent in December, with 2,409 New Yorkers hospitalized for lab confirmed influenza. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Davenport man Tuesday as a fugitive from justice from Missouri. Deputies arrested 25 year old Jerry Parkes of Davenport on the Warrant issued by Governor Cuomo, Parkes is charged with violating the terms of his probation and fleeing from Missouri to avoid prosecution. Parkes was arrested at the Delaware County Correctional Facility where he has been held without bail, since December, he was wanted in Missouri for violating the terms of his probation imposed upon a conviction for domestic assault. Parkes was arraigned; he will be turned over to Missouri law enforcement officers shortly.

Deputies located Enang in a bathroom inside a residence, where he allegedly attempted to flush HEROIN and COCAINE down a toilet. Enang was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance & 1 count of Tampering with physical evidence. Investigators seized 80 wax bags of heroin, 2 grams of Cocaine and $668 cash. Enang was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail pending future court action.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Paul Somers of Tompkins for Felony Criminal Mischief. Somers is accused of allowing his cattle to enter on a neighbors land & causing damage in excess of $250. Somers was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Tompkins Court on December 21st.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25 year old Jerry Parkes of Missouri on a Fugitive from Justice Complaint following an anonymous made to Otsego County 911. Parkes allegedly fled Missouri, where he was wanted for Domestic Assault & Felony manufacturing marijuana and synthetic marijuana. Parkes was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail pending extradition back to Missouri.

The New York Farm Bureau will have their Annual Meeting at the Desmond Hotel in Albany tomorrow through Thursday.  There will be delegate sessions throughout the 3-day event along with two evening banquets; about 400 members are expected to attend.  The issue of the lack of a federal 5-year Farm Bill will be discussed and an annual agenda will be formulated at the annual meeting.

Chenango county sheriffs deputies arrested 48-year-old Christopher Lorimer of Norwich, for Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, Resisting arrest, Refusal to submit to a chemical test and other vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation into a traffic stop. Lorimer was allegedly speeding on County Road 10 in the Town of Preston and attempted to evade police, he was apprehended after a foot pursuit.  Lorimer was arraigned in the Town of Pharsalia court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and is to re-appear in the Town of Pharsalia at a later date.

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested 26-year-old Robert Youngblood of Norwich on an active bench warrant issued out of the Town of Norwich Court.  Youngblood was located at his residence and was taken into custody without incident; he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and was released on his own recognizance.

21-year-old James Duke was sentenced Friday afternoon in A Missouri Court room to life in prison without parole for the murder of Sidney native Kody Ray in 2010.  Duke & Jordan Martin were charged in the case, Martin was accused of driving James Duke to Ray’s house & was also charged with First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action, he faces court action at a later date.

The Sidney Center Improvement Group will also continue to work to improve surrounding waterways and land use practices in order to prevent future flooding, the group was formed following the 2006 flooding of Carr’s creek that claimed 2 lives.

The Otsego county sheriffs department arrested 58-year-old Richard Talbot of Otego for 7th degree possession of a controlled substance last week.  Talbot was charged after probation officers visited Talbot’s home and found Talbot to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, violating the terms of probation from a previous conviction.  Talbot was arraigned and was remanded to Otsego County jail on $2,500 bail and faces court action Thursday.
