A fundraiser is being held for Dylan Dewey & Tyler Holcomb of Franklin, who were injured in an accident recently, Franklin Central School Principal Bonnie Johnson explained to WCDO News:

Johnson said that both teens have been at Albany Medical Center since the crash on September 5th in the town of Franklin.

The Unadilla Fire Department will hold a Cornhole tournament & vendor fair Tomorrow at the Unadilla Fire House.  Vendors will be at Unadilla firehouse from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Town of Otselic for a reported stabbing Wednesday, where a male victim was stabbed multiple times by a coworker at a cell phone tower.   The victim was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Hospital; he was listed in serious, but stable condition.  Deputies arrested 49 year old Howard Williams from the Bronx; for 2nd degree Assault he was taken into custody in the Town of McGraw by State Police and Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.  Williams was arraigned in the Town of Smyrna Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on $10,000 cash bail.

Governor announced he will advance legislation to make the “New York Buy American” Act permanent.  The law requires all structural steel and structural iron used in all state road and bridge construction projects with contracts worth more than $1 million to be made in America.  The current law is set to expire April 2020.

A.O. Fox Hospital, part of Bassett Healthcare Network, has been awarded $10,000 by the MultiPlan Rural Health Grant Program to help launch a food “farmacy” based at its Tri-Town Campus in Sidney.  Spokesperson Sarah Buttice comments:

The prescription food location will open in January; Buttice said that they will partner with local businesses including Great American, Price Chopper, Hannaford, the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, as well as local farms and food pantries.  In Delaware County, it is estimated that more than 8,400 people suffer from hunger.

The Hancock Fire Department was dispatched to a 2 vehicle head on, car vs tractor-trailer, with serious injuries on State Highway 17 in the Village of Hancock early Sunday Morning.  1 victim was entrapped in the vehicle and another patient was injured but not entrapped. The entrapped patient was extricated; both patients were transported to Wilson Hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Governor Cuomo announced $10 million in grant funding to strengthen local emergency response operations across the state through improvements to 911 emergency service dispatch operations. The funding is administered by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services through the Public Safety Answering Points Operations Grant.  Locally, Chenango county received $179,000, Delaware county $149,000 & Otsego County $164,000.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Andes Road in the Village of Delhi. 21 year old Brittney Barnett of Oakdale was observed traveling at 43 mph in a posted 20 mph School Zone, during dismissal time at Delaware Academy. Deputies detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Barnett was charged with Speeding in school zone, obstructed license plate & unlawful possession of marijuana, she was released on an appearance ticket & will to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

The City of Oneonta’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee met in City Hall on Thursday, an open house has been scheduled for November 14th. The City’s last Comprehensive Plan was in 2007; the timeline calls for a public comment period and final revision, then the plan will be brought to Common Council for a vote.

25 year old Mamadou Barry of Brooklyn has been charged with 9 felony charges after he was found with counterfeit money in Oneonta. State Police arrested Barry on 6 counts of Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument & 3 counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence, a trooper on patrol observed Barry using an electronic device while he was driving and speeding while on State Highway 28 in Oneonta. Barry allegedly threw paper-like objects out the vehicle window as the trooper initiated a traffic stop. Berry is accused of using counterfeit bills at 3 Oneonta businesses; he was arraigned in the town of Oneonta Court & was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bail bond pending court action on November 15th.

The end of daylight savings is officially at 2:00 AM Sunday Morning, and in addition to turning the clocks back one hour, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York is urging New Yorkers to inspect their smoke alarms when they change their clocks. The Association encourages New Yorkers to install smoke alarms equipped with sealed-in, non-removable batteries that last for 10 years. These alarms do not require any battery changes during their lifespan and are nearly impossible to disable. New York State has experienced 107 civilian fire deaths thus far in 2018, ranking second in the nation behind Texas, Working smoke alarms are critical in preventing additional fire deaths.
