17 year old Anais Soto of Oneonta was sentenced to 8 years in prison in Otsego County Court Today.  Soto pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary in connection with the Robbery & Murder of Kenneth Robinson in Worcester in October 2019, Dylan Robinson was found guilty for burglary 7 murder last month for his role in the killing of his father & faces sentencing shortly, Alexander Borgreen took a plea deal for Burglary was sentenced to 12 years in prison, Nicolas Meridy took a plea deals for murder & was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.

Syracuse University Sports fans will be returning to the Carrier Dome at full capacity for the 2021-22 athletic season.   Officials said that there will be no capacity restrictions or social distancing rules, but fans must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.  Depending on changes to CDC and state guidance, some rules may change closer to the start of the athletic season.

Governor Cuomo said today that there was another slight uptick in positivity rates for those tested for COVID Thursday.  There were almost 77,000 tested, with 506 positives, for a .66% rate.  Patient Hospitalizations, the number in ICU beds & on ventilators continues to trend downward, there were 4 deaths Thursday attributed to the virus, State Health Department officials said that they are watching the numbers carefully because about 20% of the new positive in New York City were of the Delta variant, which had a horrific effect on the country of India recently.

State Police and local law enforcement agencies across the state will increase patrols and crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions this 4th of July weekend. State Troopers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide to keep New York highways safe during one of the busiest summer holidays for travel.  The campaign will begins today, through Monday, July 5.  Last year, the State Police issued nearly 9,214 vehicle and traffic tickets during the 4th of July weekend. Troopers arrested 180 people for DWI and investigated 456 crashes and one fatality.

Governor Cuomo & the State Department of transportation announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on State highways will be suspended today through Tuesday morning, to ease travel throughout the July 4th holiday weekend.  Some projects may continue in the case of emergency, or behind barricades that will not impede traffic flow.

The Town of Davenport Court issued an Arrest Warrant for Soler, who was arrested Tuesday when he appeared in town of Davenport Court on an unrelated matter. Soler was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, & Harassment in connection with a separate incident. Soler was arraigned in the Town of Davenport Court on both charges, and released on his own recognizance, to re-appear in that Court at a later time.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Department Investigators and K-9 Ozzie assisted Delaware County Probation Officers with the search of a residence in Walton Monday. 18-year-old Dylan Campbell, who is currently on probation, was arrested, and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, & Violation of Probation. Campbell was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail, he will appear in the Village of Walton Court at a later time.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 47-year-old Dale Kowatch of Arkville for Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, the arrest followed a warrant issued by the Town of Middletown Court for Kowatch, he was arraigned and released upon his own recognizance, scheduled to appear before the Town of Middletown Court at a later date.

The plans call for increasing prevention efforts by trying to limit prescriptions for the legal medications from Doctors, opioid education to prescribed patients & Establishing a Narcan kit registry. The plan also calls for increased penalties for existing & new laws dealing with the sale of controlled substances. This year’s state budget commitment of $166 million for heroin and opioid crisis, treatment, outpatient, and residential services, was increased by another $25 million follow the report from the Senate task Force.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer introduced a bill to expand Brady background checks. Schumer introduced Brady Bill 2 after more than 2,000 advocates flooded his office Monday morning with phone calls. Senator Schumer’s original Brady Bill has prevented more than 2.6 million gun sales to domestic abusers, violent felons, and people with dangerous mental illnesses; the new bill will expand background checks to all gun sales.

The State DOT will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 24, regarding plans to rehabilitate a bridge on State Route 28 in the town of Milford. The meeting will be held at Milford Central School, at 7:00 PM. The bridge was built in 1985 and carries State Route 28 over State Route 7 and the Norfolk Southern Railroad Freight Main Line. Governor Cuomo announced $1 million in funding to expand access to addiction treatment services and family supports in the Southern Tier, and other locations to connect patients in Emergency Departments to appropriate treatment and support programs. In the Southern Tier, $250,000 was awarded to Addiction Center of Broome County in Binghamton, for those in need in Broome and neighboring Counties, starting June 1st. County officials agreed with the report & the recommendations and will implement a stricter county vehicle use & disposal protocol.

Governor Cuomo announced a partnership between New York State and Project Lifesaver International to provide life-saving equipment and training for 50 law enforcement agencies to assist in missing child searches, for children with Autism, Down syndrome or another type of cognitive impairment that puts them at risk for wandering or becoming lost. 596 personal transmitters will be provided to agencies through an agreement between the state Division of Criminal Justice Services and Project Lifesaver. Sheriffs’ offices in the following 21 counties will receive transmitters, including Broome County, sheriffs’ offices that already partner with Project Lifesaver will each receive 11 transmitters to add to their existing supply, including in
Chenango, Delaware, & Otsego counties locally.

State & Federal Prosecutors announced that State Assembly member William Scarborough of Queens entered guilty pleas on federal and State public charges stemming for public corruption, wire fraud & theft. He faces up to 20 years in prison on the wire fraud count, 10 years in prison on the count charging theft concerning a program receiving federal funds, and fines of up to $250,000 on each count. SCARBOROUGH also agreed to resign his position as a Member of the State Assembly, pay $54,355 restitution to New York State. Scarborough was accused of misusing travel vouchers for personal gain & misusing his own campaign account.
