The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Environmental Conservation Police arrested 34-year-old David Button Jr. of Plymouth Saturday, after he was witnessed on a trail camera trespassing and possessing a rifle, on posted property on Bates Wilson Road. Button shot a deer with the rifle, removed the head, and left the body, he was located at his residence where the rifle and deer head were recovered, Button is a convicted felon and was not allowed to possess firearms. Button was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Trespassing, Hunting without a License, Hunting Deer with Rimfire Ammunition, and Unlawfully Killing Protected Wildlife.
The Greater Binghamton Airport and NYSERDA today announced that the airport is moving forward with an energy-saving improvement process on the strength of $350,000 award by NYSERDA through Governor Cuomo’s Regional Council Initiative. Binghamton is the first airport in the country to use a geothermal system to heat an aircraft-parking ramp, which is expected to result in the avoidance of 103 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Micah Smith of the Town of Greene on charges of Criminal Possession of Marihuana. Smith was charged Saturday following a traffic stop in the Town of Greene for failing to stop at a stop sign. Smith was found to be in possession of Marihuana and scales, deputies then responded to Smith’s residence and located over an ounce of Marihuana. Smith was taken into custody and processed and released on appearance tickets for a later court date.
The Out of the Woodwork players are presenting the classic play “Our Town” from Thornton Wilder, this weekend at the Bainbridge town hall theater. The play was almost cancelled until a last minute addition to play an important character, according to cast member Howard Hannum:

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Foundation announced that this year’s fundraising campaign set a goal of exceeding last year’s mark of $130,000. Money raised by the Foundation has been used to renovate the facility and upgrade equipment. The Chenango county sheriff’s office arrested 30-year-old Alex Danyluk of Norwich Saturday, on charges of Petty Larceny, Trespassing, Criminal Mischief and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Danyluk is accused of stealing an LED Signal Light off a MRP Paving dump truck by cutting the wires back on October 18th in the Town of Norwich, with his 2-year-old daughter present. Danyluk was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Norwich Court at a later date.
