Former Clinton County Correctional Facility Guard Gene Palmer pleaded guilty in court on today to Promoting prison contraband and official misconduct, for smuggling tools to Richard Matt & David Sweat last year, prior to their escape from jail & a 3 week long manhunt. Palmer was sentenced him to 6 months in jail and he was fine $5,000, and was forced to resign his position. Matt was shot and killed by State Police, Sweat was wounded and apprehended by police and has been sent to a different jail to serve out his term for killing Broome County Sheriffs deputy Kevin Tarsia in 2002.

Governor Cuomo directed state agencies to issue a letter calling on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to immediately halt construction of the Algonquin natural gas pipeline until a comprehensive safety review is completed. The Governor sited the series of serious incidents at the Indian Point Nuclear Facility, & the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a natural gas pipeline in close proximity of Indian Point.

A Town of Guilford resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Harassment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 31-year-old Brad Romano of Guilford was charged after an investigation where Romano allegedly made inappropriate comments to a juvenile, and subjected the juvenile to unwanted physical contact. Romano was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 44 year old Jerome Greene of Corona New York Saturday Night, on 1 count of felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, following a traffic stop on County Highway 10 in the Town of Meredith. Green was found to have operated a motor vehicle while having 22 active suspensions on his license, he was additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license plate light, unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with improper plates. Greene was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 secured bond.

A Town of Guilford resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Unlawfully Dealing With a Child 1st Degree. Deputies arrested 31-year-old Jamie Benham of Guilford for Unlawfully Dealing With a Child, for allegedly providing alcohol to a juvenile. Benham was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Guilford Court at a later date.

Members from Chenango County Probation, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Police conducted a probation check in the Town of Otselic. 56-year-old Calvin Parker was found to be in possession of a shotgun, marihuana, and digital scales. 29 year Heather Naylor was also found to be in possession of marihuana, & during the investigation, officers discovered a “one pot” methamphetamine cook. Parker & Naylor face numerous drug charges, they face court action shortly.

Delaware county Sheriffs Department arrested alleged drug dealers Thursday afternoon on Sealed Grand Jury Indictment Warrants. Deputies and Investigators arrested 30-year-old Tara McMullen of Hobart for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance; she is accused of selling Suboxone in April, 2015. 30-year-old Joseph Viola of Stamford was arrested on 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance; he is accused of selling Suboxone. McMullen and Viola were arraigned in Delaware County Court and were remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail.

The next Reunite Bainbridge meeting is tonight at 7:00 pm at Bob’s Diner. The planned agenda is to Create a team to plan a community “block party”, Create a team to work on the Community Calendar that will be used to raise additional funds for Reunite events. Bainbridge residents are encouraged to attend & participate.

The Oneonta Department of Public Works will be repairing a water service leak at 109 West Street between Hartwick College & SUNY Oneonta, starting at 8:00 This Morning. The Work is expected to be completed by Noon today, traffic will be reduced on West Street to 1 lane during that time, controlled by flagged personnel, and motorists can expected short delays.
