Law Enforcement agencies are investigating a 1 vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Vestal at Clayton Avenue and Lagrange Street. The initial report suggests that the vehicle left the roadway & struck a fence, 18-year-old Kadin Abdullah of Vestal was a passenger in the vehicle & he was pronounced dead at the scene, the investigation is continuing.

The Norwich Parade of Lights will be held Saturday night along Broad Street starting at 6:00 PM. Chobani will be giving away some of their products again this year, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be set up in their igloo in East Park after the parade.

A.M. NEWS Friday 11-25-22

26 year old Kout Akol of Binghamton was convicted for 1st degree manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence & endangering the welfare of a child, in Broome County Court Wednesday. Akol was arrested on July 3rd of 2021 for the stabbing death of 27 year old Takecia Mitchell in her Binghamton apartment. Akol faces up to 25 years in prison, he will be sentenced on February 23rd.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Wednesday the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services has reversed its eligibility criteria for Critical Access Hospital status. The program allows rural healthcare providers to receive federal reimbursements to help ensure they are able to service patients. The rule reversal is expected to go into effect January 1st.
