State Police and local law enforcement agencies will continue with their special traffic safety initiative to prevent unsafe driving behavior during the holiday weekend. Temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects are suspended statewide through Monday morning; State Police will supplement regular patrols statewide with dedicated impaired driving patrols with sobriety checkpoints, underage drinking enforcement and the use of Concealed Identity patrol vehicles to locate drivers talking or texting on handheld devices.

The New York State Consumer Protection Board & area Law Enforcement Agencies are reminding residents of a few tips to avoid getting shipped items stolen from your front porch of steps this year. Residents are advised to Keep track of packages, as many retailers or Delivery companies like Federal Express or UPS offer online shipping details the holidays. Also, Beware of phishing attempts, where scammers will send emails and text messages and impersonating delivery companies, or banking and credit card companies, or large retailers, which may include links to sites attempting to steal your banking information. The Chenango County Historical Society reminds local shoppers to check out their Museum Store this Sunday. For the 5th consecutive year, more than 1,650 museum stores will participate in Museum Store Sunday this year, the Museum Shop at the Chenango County Historical Society in Norwich will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, more information is available at ChenangoHistorical.org/shop.

The American Red Cross continues to report Blood Shortages, they are asking eligible residents to donate blood, a blood drive is being held today in Oneonta from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Elm Park Methodist Church on Chestnut Street & in Cooperstown from 12:30 to 6:30 PM at Bassett Hall, appointments can be made by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Delaware County Public Health reported 2 more COVID Deaths, for Tuesday & Wednesday, bringing the total to 76 for the pandemic. Delaware County still reports a high positivity rate of almost 10.5%, there were 55 new cases of COVID, 227 active cases, 10 hospitalized & 403 quarantined. 53.2% of County residents are fully vaccinated, 76% of cases are not vaccinated.

The caregivers of Bassett Medical Center will be holding a candle lighting service of remembrance in honor of patients who have died due to COVID-19 on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM.
